In the ford service manual they said to use a 15W - 40W. The first number you should try and kept the same but if your car is modify you should try and increase the second one. There were a few oils to choose from I decided on the Nulon 15w - 50w full synthetic. If your car is stock you should stay with a 15W -40W.

Cause as we modify our cars, the standard lubes surely would need upgrading too..Engine:4 Speed:6 Speed Auto:5 Speed:6 Speed manual:Diff:Power Steering:I've probably missed some things but you get my drift...I know everyone has there own opinion as to whats better/what they use, but it'd be a a good start point for people that aren't sure... Could even go further, Coolant etc..So someone with more knowledge than me feel free to fill in the list. Turbo ute, sorry to hijack but im sure you'll benefit too.. There are some good threads here if you do a search. My motto regarding motor oil is pick the one you are comfortable paying for and change it and the filter often. I use a Nulon synthetic in the right weight ( 10W-40 from memory) in my T and change it at 5000klm intervals. I personally feel that the intervals between changes it more important than the brand of oil.For the T56, Mal Wood recommends Castrol Transmax Z, which is actually a synthetic Automatic transmission fluid. Its around $70 for 4ltrs from Supercheap or autobarnand and you need 4.8 or 4.9ltrs when you change it. Change it via the reverse sensor on the LHS of the box, not the plug on the right, which is too low to get enough fluid into the box. Fill it until the oil comes out of the hole you are filling it from.Regarding plugs, I haven't changed from the OEM items, but if you have modded your car, gap them at 0.8mm. If not stay with the factory gap which I believe is 1.0mm. Check your owners manual to confirm the gap if standard as I am only going off memory. Instant change in engine sound. Kinda hard to explain but seemed smoother. Also had the T56 and wan castrol tranzmax Z which is an auto transmission oil. Yeah sounds odd but its great stuff be it a bit pricey. Made the shift feel smoother and made the box a fair bit quieter as they have a tendancy to be a litle rattly at idle. Now with the FG I run Nulon in the motor and Im yet to do a gear box oil change. Transmax will be going in it for sure.

I find a Large six litre bottle and a small one litre bottle does the trick (if changing oil filter s well) a little less if not doing filter.
