G'day guys and girls,

I have noticed in the forum quite a few people talking about traction control. My traction control in my 03 BA XR6T doesnt appear to do anything at all really, if I start spinning the light will flash on, but the car doesnt break or ease the throttle or anything, and if I spin it for more then 2 seconds or so the light will just stay up on the dash even once I have stopped spinning, at which point I cant make the light go away until I turn the car off. It is strange compared to other cars I have driven with traction control, in which you can actually feel the computer cutting power until you regain traction, if anything, you would call mine a traction indicator rather then control lol. Not that that is any problem for me :3gears::spoton:

As for my cruise control, it is just plain temperamental... it will turn on just after I start the car and I can use it any point from there on, however if I have already been driving for a while and attempt to turn it on, it will not come on at all. It occasionally cut out and turn off completely when I put my foot on the break, at which point I cant turn it back on until I turn the car off and then back on again. It is the strangest thing and is quite annoying when I wish to do a long drive...

Any one know anything about these two oddity's? lol

I know mine doesnt always cut the throttle for the TC when spinning the wheels if I keep it in a straight line and dont let it slip sideways. But mine doesnt leave the light on afterwards. Sounds like you have a few niggly elec issues.

Hey guys,

First time poster, just picked up my XR6T 2003 Auto stock standard, what a slug compared to my M3 that I just sold. I plan to mod this one to its full potential though!!

Traction control light not working at all on dash, went for a drive in the wet the other day, at stand still pressing the button for 5 seconds [as supposed to] then releasing, disengages the TC - it did let the wheels spin so I do know that the traction control switch does disengage.

I swapped the Cluster with a mates momentarily and it still does not illuminate?

Any thoughts??

Thanks.

You sure yours has traction control I think it was an option on those ones. You can still get a heap of wheel spin with it on.

Im sure that if they have the switch it has traction control??

It does cancel acceleration when turning from stand still and putting the foot down that is TC Im sure, as the M3 I had done the same with it on.

All turbo sedans came standard with TC. What you are feeling is the TC MODS MAN. If the light on your dash doesn't come on solid when you press the button, it's not turned off.

Next time you feel the TC cut in, take a quick look down the bottom RH corner of the instrument cluster and see if the light is flashing while the TC is cutting the power. It is possible if you have aftermarket gauges installed, someone has wired the power for their back lights up to the wrong wire which is shorting the circuit and not telling the ECU to turn it off.

The plug comes out pretty easily, just use a plastic blade to pry the whole switch mount from the dash, the fog switch will come with it.

Cheers,

Ben
