Hi Fellow Turbo Fans,

MY Car is a BF F6 Typhoon Stock ZF 6 speed Auto runs 13.2 1/4 at WSID

I need some help in regaining my pride. last week I raced a friend of a friend who owns this apparent Stock Xr8 which apparently only has a very mild exhaust fitted, the short story is I lost a few times and could not beat him. '

now in saying that I came close but not close enough. now my car is not a slow typhoon I was thinking a 13.2 1/4 is fairly quick. anyhow what I need to do is beat him this weds night, what can I do between now and then to help me get that little advantage that I need. ie change Spark plugs clean air filter is there anything that I can do so I can show him that forced induction rules. PS he laughed about xr6 turbos saying how rubbish they are and they are always blowing up. now u can see I need to beat this guy.

Cheers guys.

(I cant get a tune between now and then)

run some race fuel and disconnect the hose from the boost solenoid. just kidding. a tune is the only way, then you will hose him. cv has a $400 special on at the moment I believe. do whatever it takes to get it done or simply say your crook and postpone. when you do run him again, leave the stock tune in for the first race, then, when you come back load your tune in without being seen. once that's done, get out and have a tinker under the bonnet and pretend you found a boost leak or something. hes none the wiser then and thinks he only won because your car was playing up.lol. seriously though, xr8's go good.pretty underated.

Thanks Guys,

if I was to take the turbo piping off wouldnt that mean that all unfiltered air would enter the turbo possibly causing massive damage. taking into consideration that people are doing burnouts everywhere with little bits of rubber.

Cheers

Just put it off a week or 2, and get it tuned with a capa box. Any of our advertisers should be able to help.

It's not worth doing anything silly that may cause a problem.

After all, your car is stock and his is not.... "apparent stock XR8" lol.... most of our cars look stock!

Even with a mild retune you should be quicker.

Brian

Boosting the octaine will do SFA on a stock car.

You would be better to get a flasher with generic tunes and then get custom tuned next time.

You call call up C&V today, pay by CC and they will courier it to you, so you have it for Wednesday.

A 10PSI generic tune will hose a XR8.

Should a a XR8 with a exhaust beat a typhoon, I was a little bit shocked actually.

my car runs consistent 13.2 1/4s I thought Xr8s struggle to even crack the 13 second barrier.

any one have any expeirence with xr8s either racing one or owning

my girlfriend has an xr8 ute with the throttle body relocation kit, exhaust and afew other bits n pieces.... I kill it standard... it has a better top end than me standard like if your already doing 80kms it would be kinda close... but I am pretty sure I'd still win... after just a tune it kills... I highly doubt your mates xr8 is really standard.

unless I bought a freak xr6t... but then im still happy lol :spit:
