:buttrock: I saw the new V8 Supercar pro mo this morning with Lowndes and Whincup rap dancing with teenagers while a whole lot of others were dancing around :crybaby: I was just gobbed smacked and wondered what the hell this has to do with motor racing and what marketing academic, who obviously is about 25 and probably drives a bloody Prius, was thinking when this crap was put togeather.

The racing has become boring enough as it is IMHO and now the genius's at V8SA are promoing to kids who couldn't afford much more than a VL or and EF, let alone a new car.

No wonder Ford pulled their funding back, anyone with half, no quarter, of a brain would do that if they any idea this was coming. Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup are supposed to be RACE CAR DRIVERS not bloody rap dancers. What a joke :puke:

Its all about the branding, nothing to do with the Ford vs Expensive Daewoo thing any more..

Roland Dane said that when Triple Eight Racing entered into V8 fray, the only franchise available was a Blue one..So they went with it. Whats scary is that they are already winning this years championship, in a new chassis. Damn, I will be pi$$ed off if they manage to win the series again, first year up, with a new manufacturer...

In the end, their success will reflect the structure and ability of their whole organisation.. Dane was also quoted a saying "it didnt matter whether if we are Red or Blue, we intend to be successful.."

So far they are doing exactly as they have said.... :spit:

This prooves that the regulations mean that the cars are so close that the Blue vs the Red really becomes accademic. It's down to the teams and drivers on the day, nothing to do with the car or the technology. Most races are won in the pits - let's face it. In fact it's bordering on Narcar and Americas Cup boringness to me. They need to increase the excitment levels in racing to keep the crowd interest up. Right now the only racing that gives bang for buck excitment is rallying. I watched about 10 laps of the race on the weekend and ended up doing gardening. That's just how boring, and even worse, predictable it's become. I probably wouldn't care if I never saw another race this year. I like the start of Bathurst and the first 15 laps, but after that - Ho Hum! it will be just the same.

Actually if you want to watch good racing, have you checked out any bike racing?

Among my favorites are 125GP, 250GP ( now defuct and being replaced with a 600cc fourstroke class) World Super sport ( 600cc) and world superbikes (1000cc).

F#@k yeah,

I have to hand to those guys, they really compete! Not uncommon to have 4-5 lead changes every lap... They are brave mofo's.. Its great to see hard racing even within the same team!! The V8's over here are now dead boring, next step will be a control chassis, like NASCAR.... its a shame really.. Thanks Tony Coc#rane..

BTW Did you see the capacity crowd in Abu Dhabi.. :dontknow:

Yep! I understand your point on the 2 wheel vvariety of racing. I'm just not a real bike fan I'm afraid, but it is exciting.
