Agree with all the above.

VG, to be honest I have all the special features OFF, DSP, Loud etc;. Set the presets to 4 people and play with the bass and treble to suit. then hit the little button with the '+' on it (on the left side of the steering wheel) until it gets to 18 or more, I find 22 great for Ozzy, Led Zep, Nazareth, Metallica, AC DC etc; a little lower for Beethoven, Enya, Mike Oldfield, Anastasia etc;

VG, you do have 'Loud' turned on dont you? Mine sounds crap without it.

Yep I do. I will admit that I did expect a little better, but its a hell of an improvement on the standard stereos that I've been used to in the Police XTs

To be honest, I was not that impressed with the sound of the premium audio, especially after hearing lots of people rave about it on this site. Don't get me wrong, the sound of the premium audio is OK, its just not up there with a good aftermarket system that can be purchased for less than $900 including speakers IMHO. As it is though, I like the colour screen and the sound is suitable for my purposes.

I agree. Premium audio was not up to my expectations. I was also expecting proper 11 speakers, instead of four 2-ways counting as eight. It would have been nice to have speakers on the rear doors as well.

Better SQ could have been achieved from aftermarket packages at the same price.

THe only nice feature that took me was the screen, but I think it is such a waste of a good element. If shows hardly an info (just time, audio info, and fan, etc). They should have at least given it a "CD Text" feature, maybe nice visualisation bars for music as well. Trip comp, and inside/outside temp like on teh Fairmont would have gave it more use as well.

And it's a colour screen, but it shows maybe 2-3 colours (blue,black, white) at most? It's a waste of such a capable screen.

Personal preference =in studio mode , loud on , crank up base to max,

treble @ approx 75% , Fade and balance as appropriate, volume about 19-20. Should be ok for those who like it hard and fast.eg Birdman, Iggy ,Saints, Ozzy , et al, Rear windscreen vibrates and shimmers nicely.

Bear in mind this is a car unit not a home thunderbox.That said it is OK , but I expected more for $1k large

Have a good un

The Premium Audio sound quality is quite good for the price. Add a few amps on the speakers, maybe even better speakers, better subby and it'd sound a treat. But seriously, how could you turn up the music when the exhaust note and turbo spool on the T's is just so brillient :)

*nods* The premium sound option cost me less than the optional stacker I optioned into my first new car. And the sound is well and truely good enough for a stock system.

I thought of it this way, 6 stacker (Prestige sound), $600 or for $300 more get bigger screen and sub etc made sense to go Premium.

Sure if may be helped out with better speakers, perhaps a little more grunt through a couple of extra amps to suit some tastes but it's enough for me at the moment. I think I've had the stereo on for about 30 minutes so far, the rest of the time I'm listening to the engine ;)
