The new cameras, capable of detecting speeding and red light offences in the same moment, could see drivers losing their licence in one flash.

The state's next double-demerit period is due to begin in the week before Easter. During that time, a driver speeding 20km/h over the limit through a red light in a school zone could lose 13 demerit points if the intersection has one of the new cameras installed

Just go past one at over 30 clicks during a normal period outside of school hours and you will still lose your licenece. The above 'what if' is way out there.

The above example just shows how stupid the demerit point system is. Double points some days, extra points on others, no points for some stuff.

Trust me, im not a fan.

Has a car ever been crushed under the hoon law's in this country?

Even if they were really Gunna, how could they to a car that's under finance? Or indebted in any financial way.

Politicians are like baboons in a circle high on over ripe mango's. Slapping the ground and grunting.

... and a driver driving over 45kph, through a school zone at the same red light/safety camera above, on the phone, not wearing there seatbelt in a prohibited vehicle without there P plate on would lose 39 points.

Where's this example to the media?

Sounds wonderful and even more so when the new law can be referred to a little girl who was killed in a pursuit, but no matter how harsh the penalties, the same armed robbers that killed her are still never going to stop for the police.

Another cheap stunt by a governtment that's not going to be around for much longer.

I wonder what % of the road toll is caused by high speed pursuits? As you said, it sounds nice but won't do anything - if you're up to 10 years + a pursuit law wont be an issue. The traffic penalties are way out of step with our criminal punishments anyway. You can do some skids and get your car impounded even if it was a deserted industrial area late at night but if I get pissed and go out and bash an innocent bystander I'll probably get a good behaviour bond, maybe some community service.

the reality is theres no money to be made from locking ppl up it only costs the goverment ( the tax payer ) what they should start doing is charging ppl what it costs too be charged and sent to jail if found guilty for crimes like sexual assault ,rape ,murder ,pedafiles maybe more of these fools will think twice I realize lots of these ppl have no money but theirs a hell of a lot of idoits that do and are found guilty

traiffic fines on the other hand well that's money for jam and as such will only get worse each time the goverment needs some more money

cheers trev

I think it's between $65 and $80 thou a year per prisoner. Depending on where they are holidaying.

Got your idea into the sunday papers in Bris vegas last week. Il'll beat some sense into them yet.
