I already had a booking arranged at APS for next week before the car went in to the dealer so will get them to check things out.

Hopefully will just be an easy fix but I suppose I still need to resolve the code reset issue.

What the Ford tech at Traralgon actually said was that he could not reset the code/s and even if he could he wouldn't unless the Unichip was removed??

Where are you located Cam? This might seem a stupid question but who are dynomotive?

I have the CAPA stage 1 kit, and I have hit the boost ceiling a number of times when optimising the system.

My experience is that there is no need to reset the ECU, just get the Unichip adjusted, and you will probably find that after that it will be fine :huh:

What I found was that after over-boosting the the maximum boost was reduced by 3-4 psi for quite a few k's, or until I stopped the car, turned the engine off for 30 seconds, re-started and everything was back to normal. :D

Fordtech, where is the 'C' connector you mentioned?

If that was the problem why would it have only happened in the last couple of weeks? Can't think of anywhere the car has been where it might have been disconnected.

When you had the overboost issue Ninka did the car just lose power or did it run rough as guts???

At full throttle it cut some cylinders out, and after easing the throttle and trying again, the boost would only reach a maximum of 5-6psi instead of a 10 psi spike and 8.5 psi consistent boost.

Ninka do you have the capa kit on your car? and if so how do you find it?

Yes it's on my car, and the feel of the car is a lot stronger in mid and high end of the rev range.

Overall the car feels a lot stronger.

Before = 173 rwkw

After = 200 rwkw :D

Twice in the last two weeks while accelarating My car started to miss and felt like it had dropped a cylinder or developed a nasty elec fault. Once I had pulled over switched it off and restarted everything was fine. Had to take it in to the dealer today to have the water pump O-ring seal replaced and asked them to check if any codes were up. They tell me it has codes up relating to wastegate/overboost? Not sure whether that was one code or not.

Anyone else experienced a similar problem and does it sound like an overboost issue?

My car has a Unichip and dealer says they cannot (or could be will not) reset the codes until I have the Uni removed.

My car has been doing something very similar. Not always, but often enough to get me worried. If I accelerate hard to about 5600rpm then change, it will sometimes have bugger all power, and make an absolute dog of a sound (kinda like when TC kicks in, only much longer), for about 30 secs, even if I change up again and run a long at very light throttle. Ater about 30 secs it dissapears but I don't know what it is? The only mod I have done is centre muffler and BMC filter, and it was happening before I fitted the filter. Could this be an overboost problem? If so, what is the solution? Cheers.

CDM

Mine does the exact same thing and it does it just after overboosting , I have also removed centre muffler and fitted cold air intake. I have watched the boost guage and it gets to 10psi when it does it.

It's an overboost problem :(

In standard configuration you should not see 10 psi, but only 8 psi or there abouts.

At 10 psi I had the same problem after fitting a pressure relief valve to get the boost higher, thus the CAPA kit which is adjustable to allow higher boost :D
