Has anyone had their fuel tank cleaned? Is it a big job?

I'd get it prof done of course, just curious cause I had the car serviced and the fuel filter was aparently full of crap. When I got my walbro pump put in a while ago, Nizpro also said the standard one had crap on it.. This cant be good for the car..

When I fitted my walbro pump years ago I scraped the bottom with my hand and the soot and crap was amazing! The filter on the standard pump was chockers and I was surprised that the pump was still working.

I couldn't fit the new filter on the new pump at the time so it doesn't have one, only the inline filter under the car. I replace it every 5-8000km's and they dont seem to bad now.

Dare say my intank pump impellar is wearing out though without a filter!

That is the reason why I bought a spare pump and extra 3 pump sock filters in the last group buy./ I feel that this area is generally overlooked during servicing schedules... Not much use just doing the inline filter if the Pump sock is clogged with sh*te.... I finally got my Mal Wood option 3 in today. So all of my other bits will als be fitted then tuned... I wil be cleanin my tank and replacing the filters before this happens.... I will repeatedly flush the tank and use my Holley Blue pump and remote fuel filter to remove the fuel and sludge.. :buttrock:

Surely theres a way to physically remove the tank, or is there like alot of stuff in the way, suspension, exhaust etc.. Which could end up costing $$$ I would never be 100% happy if it was just 'flushed' maybe its just me..

Stick your head under the car and have a look, it's above the rear end so I'd think you would have to drop the whole back end out, could be wrong though!

You could also try running your car until it has bugger all fuel left then remove the back seat and get to the tank from there, give the fuel a good swirl with your hand or metal spoon to get the crap floating around and syphon out whats left then just use heaps of rags and metho to clean inside, Replace both the pump and inline filter once done.

This wouldn't be as good as removing and cleaning but would be cheaper and is only using your time, plus then you would know how much crap is in there for future reference.

Call someone to get a quote otherwise and find out.
