Clutch Problems

Hi Guys,

New to the XR6 turbo, previously had a modded S13, so far not really enjoying the XR as I've had nothing but trouble with it. I really want to iron out the problems and give it a chance!

Anyway... Car is a 2003 BA XR6 Turbo with the crappy T5.

My clutch pedal is sticking to the floor, I knew it could be one the of the cylinders (master or slave), so I took it to the dealership and they have told me both the clutch master and slave need replacing. They quoted $1800 to do the job $1000 of which would be covered by warranty. I told them to forget about it and I'll get it fixed somewhere else.

So my question is how much would it cost me to order the parts in myself from say, peps or repco? I'm not 100% sure if it can be ordered so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

I live out in parramatta way, does anyone have any recommendations for mechanics to get the job done right?

You might want to think about ditching the T5 and get a T56 put in, depending on how far u want to go with power levels and what your intentions are with the car. Almost anywhere should be able to beat that price substantially

:beerchug: If you are going to be modifying it I would be putting the T56 in, T5 wont hold much power.

Another note these cars are very good, since you have a 03 BA you will be able to get very low 300's at the wheels with it, want any more you will need to upgrade internals. The BF's on wards come with stronger internals and can handle high 300's. The engines are awesome, very easy to get power out of.

got an invoice in front of me for a master which is $314 + GST.. I installed mine myself (not a mechanic) and took me a few hours..

with the Slave ive heard to get a Expensive Daewoo one which is alloy appose to the crap plastic ford ones,, think someone mentioned $200ish? The box has to come out for the slave though

I called ford and they quoted me $800+ for a slave cylinder and $380 for the master... I thought buying a locally built car meant cheap spare parts!

I bought a new Alloy CSC that will suit your application off Clutch Industries for $105. So Ford are certainly ripping you off.

because that's unherd of around here

mate look around you will find you bits cheaper also try malwood who should be a site sponser on here

depending on you knowledge do them yourself but maybe get a second opinion on whats wrong

ford apprentice machanics aint always right
