Now must of us are in some form of water restriction it seems that a car wash is the best way to get the outside cleaned (I wish I owned a Car Lovers now !!). Stage 3 restrictions means no car washing except at a commercial facility that recycles water.

After polishing the Excel in order to sell it last weekend I noticed all the circular scratches that showed up on in, compliments of the Car Lovers brushes.

The Car Lovers and the new Aquarius in Mitchell have these brushless laser washes. Are they worth it ? I dont feel like scratching the car when it gets its first wash. Sounds like its the only way I can go

My experience with the laser wash thing a year or so ago was that it did not clean my car properly. ie. the car was really dirty and it didn't get all the dirt off. It was really noticable and I haven't used it since. :(

I haven't used commercial car washs since getting my latest turbo. The brushes do scratch.

Anyway that's my thoughts on it. :)

My experience using Laserwash has not been too bad. I found it removed about 95% of the stuck on bugs, debris, etc, but didnt do too good a job on the rims to remove the brake dust.

Its aceptable if you are in a rush and need your car looking relatively good, but nothing beats a bucket of soapy water and a cleaning chamois.

I used to send my AU wagon company car through one of the laser wash places in Queensland. They used to give the car a quick once-over by hand as it was going into the process if it was really dirty. I never had a problem with it - the wash was always good and there were no scratches.

Only prob is with our water restrictions (Stage 3) car cleaning bans the use of buckets, in fact in the ACT u cant wash your car anywhere but a commercial joint, or you can be fined

man- no car washing! That is criminal. Everyone should be given the chance to lovingly caress their machinery. I don't think that a brushless car wash is going to remove things like that film that is left after driving in the rain- and I don't dig those brushes at the carwash. Might as well use a deck scrubbing broom.

Most 'true' enthusiasts will go through the Laserwash (Aquarious in Mitchell is the best in Canberra in my experience) and then slink home and behind locked doors quickly bucket wash the carto remove any final film and then caress the painwork with wax in a loving manner....

Yer. The No washing car at home rule really sux. I washed my T last night, for the first and only time at home. Then today it bloody started to rain. Oh well, looks like carlovers etc for me. Although for 2 weeks there will only be warnings issued. Then after that a $1000 fine. The greedy bastards.

hey guys, as far as Im concerned, (I dont know about other states) in NSW the restrictions really start on the 1th of November. that's when they can start issuing fines for offenders. The first month of the restrictions is more of a warning and awareness for people. Dont get me wrong, Im not encouraging anyone to wash their cars because you will only initially get a warning. Just letting you know.
