I used to drive/ride unlicensed, like someone else has said already, Very carefully. NEVER touched the parents car without them knowing, didn't need to I had my own car and bike when I was 12. Plus I lived an hour from the nearest city. Could of got done many times for being on the roads on the bike, no helmet, rego, license etc but I knew if I ever went along the highway I would of got my arse kicked. Drove the oldies cars and truck with dad, along the highway and on the roads further west from when I was about 14 - akubra on and ya get a wave from the cops. I've been on the road in cars with 10 or 11yr old driving and felt safe, but they weren't aloud out of 3rd in the diesels and knew to pull right off the road if anyone else came.

What I'm getting at is age wasn't a factor in this crash - maturity and experience were. While the media will grab this story and try to make every mum in the country feel like it could of been there boy. To me it's just another reason why the no high powered cars laws for P platers is flawed, kids can kill themselves no matter what they drive if they aren't sensible.

Pity someone died though, hate to be the kid that lived.
