Have you heard anything?” “No. What?” “Our road is all blocked off. There’s about 10 cop cars, ambos, firies, hundreds of people on the street and a helicopter!!!” “Nah no idea”. “A car has gone into the power pole near the detention centre” “F#ck aye! That’s no good” Anyways, so I’m heading home. Get near my house, and sure enough. Hundreds of people on the road. Cops, ambos, firies. Bugger. Detour around the block to get home. So I jump online to order some Domino’s and the internet is down. Checked all my power and connections. Yep all good. Still no signal from Optus cable. Pick up the home phone. Dead. Grrrr!!! Get on the mobile & call Optus. “Yes Mr John. I can confirm that a car has taken down the Optus cable in your street” Grrrr!!!! So I walk across Woodville Rd to Dominos and still heaps of people on the street. Pick-up my pizza’s, go back home and had dinner. Flicked on the Tivo and see the news story about the car crash in Gurney Rd, Villawood. “Today a unlicensed driver in his mums white Expensive Daewoo Commodore...” Then I saw the images. My heart skipped a beat... The white VX Late model camira sedan with the Monaro tail lights. OMFG!!!! That is Rania’s car next door. WTF?!?!?!?! So I raced up the road, and sure enough. The number plates “ZREIKA” are displayed on the mangled mess of once was the beautiful family car. Young Abdul had taken his mum’s car out and smashed it, killing his mate. Now Abdul and his mates aren’t exactly what you’d call angels. While Rania and her husband were overseas during the summer school holidays, Abdul and his mates would be outside causing nuisance and annoyance till 2AM each morning. They’d be letting off fire works, yelling, swearing and causing trouble. They even through a cigarette butt over the fence burning a hole into the trampoline I’d just bought the kids for Christmas. Alicia had also seen them one afternoon, playing “chicken” in their mates car with oncoming traffic. Could Abdul have been playing this “chicken” game on Tuesday causing death? Even if he does pull through this coma, his parents are going to kill him! Underage, unlicensed driving. Uninsured, writing off the family car. Manslaughter. The list goes on. Could this have been karma? Student dies in car crash seconds away from school NICK RALSTON AND GEESCHE JACOBSEN February 10, 2010 Mohamed Afchal. MOHAMED AFCHAL was only moments from his destination when the car in which he was riding mounted the kerb and hit a power pole. He was killed instantly. Mohamed, 15, was a short distance from Chester Hill High, where he was a student, when the white Expensive Daewoo Late model camira driven by his friend Abdul Zreika, 15, came off Gurney Road just after 3pm yesterday. Police said the car failed to negotiate a bend in the road, hit the kerb, then smashed into the pole. Abdul, who was initially trapped in the wreck, was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he remained in a critical condition this morning. At 15, he was too young to hold a learner's licence. "When you're unlicensed you shouldn't be driving, no matter what the situation is," Abdul's older sister, who did not wish to be named, said. The 15-year-old took the Commodore, his mother's car, without their parents' knowledge, the 24-year-old said. "He went walking to pick his [other] sister up from school and came back and forgot something and said, 'You know what? I'm not going to walk back again.' And [he] took the keys without our parents knowing." He is the only boy in a family of six children, she said. Abdul's mother was still at the hospital, where her son was undergoing surgery. Abdul's father was there most of the night but came home early today, the sister said. "We have high hopes that he'll pull through," she said. A friend of Mohamed, Maria Vasilakis, said other friends were at the scene quickly after the accident. ''I ran up to the site and I looked at one of my mates and he said: 'He's gone, Afchal's dead.' We were all just in shock.'' Friends said Mohamed was one of nine children. It was the second tragedy for the family - one of his three brothers died about four years ago in an incident at a beach. Friends said Mohamed's mother had to be taken to hospital yesterday after being told of her son's death. Mohamed's friends gathered yesterday to remember the young man they described as a ''happy, awesome kid''. ''If you see his face it would just make you want to smile. He was a good boy,'' Maria said. ''This has hit us like a bombshell. Our friends don't know what to think. We just sat all together trying to take it all in.'' The state government said the number of crashes involving young people this year was ''unprecedented and of huge concern''. - with Georgina Robinson

Even worse when you know the people involved as close as you do.I grew up racing karts since I was 6 years old. There were alot of stories in the kart community of unlicensed drivers taking out mum or dads cars and wrapping them around poles or tree's. A year never went passed where this didnt occur. Some of the young karters we lost over the years had the potential to be great professional drivers.

Can also bet it wasnt the first time they were joy riding in their parents cars, being drop kicks in a suburban area. Near me in a suburb called Punchbowl, the leb kids sit in the middle of the main roads causing the cars to have to swerve around them. I wish they would be run over. I wish they would be run over.I lived in Punchbowl/Mt Lewis for over close to 20 years of my life. So I know what they're like. These kids in the news have also been seen to run in front of oncoming cars at the last moment, causing the drivers to skid/swerve.What is it with kids these days??? I have zero sympathy for the families of muppets who do stupid things and kill themselves. You think if this clown survives, he'll suddenly wake up a be a better person. Sorry but I dont believe that.Sounds like all those habibs with their pen*s haircuts, playing chicken on a main road need a wake up call. Hopefully in the form of a semi that cant swerve in time. Sounds like this kids stupidity was maybe a product of the parents lack of discipline....and his mate was one of nine siblings, whom was also apparently a little terd. Makes you wonder why people have 9 kids when they cant look after them. Welfare maybe...but that's just specualtion on my part.Basically given these kids behaviour the parents played a role in their deaths. Either way, no one deserves to die like that at that age.
