[MODS please don't move the thread, I doubt many people would look in the driveline sub forum and I'm looking to see how many other people have had issues]

I've got an FG sedan, had it about 18mths now. From day 1, I noted driveline issues that were not present on my 2 previous manual BAII XR6T's. Dealer kept calling me an idiot saying there was nothing wrong. Shortly after 12,000km's the centre bearing on the tailshaft shat itself resulting in a replacement. I was without the car for almost 3 weeks as they claimed it took 2 weeks just to source the part.

About 12,000km's after that, it happened again. Exact same thing even after being told the car was 100%. Again I was without a car though not as long this time. When I got it back, they'd stuffed the clutch and it had to go back to be fixed.

Another 10,000kms or so and a 3rd dealer, I noticed something funny going on which resulted in the drivers side driveshaft being replaced instead. They insisted that the tailshaft was perfect and the car yet again was all good.

The first time it happened I thought maybe I helped it along as I admit I don't baby my cars. But in fairness the FG had a much easier time than the previous BA's. But after the first replacement to prove to myself that it can't have been me, I drove for 6mths like an old mole, yet it still broke in the exact same way.

Now at just over 40,000kms I suspect its stuffed again. But, WTF would I know? I'm just some stupid idiot driving the thing? I've given up arguing with the so called expert representatives of FoMoCo and just drive like a little old lady everywhere. I even avoid roads where I might cop a hill start or have to reverse up a driveway cos the load on the driveline might just snap it again. I can terminate my lease in under 6mths without penalty and I can't wait to park the thing and never look back. If it wasn't illegal, I'd drive the thing through the camberfield head office and walk home.

The experience I've had with this car has ensured that it will be the last Ford product I ever have anything to do with simply because their dealer network are a bunch of c$%#'s. And before you say good riddance, this is my 4th new XR since the BA was released so if they refuse to look after a 10yr repeat customer, who are they interested in looking after?

Are the dealers right making me out to be some ar$ehole, or are other people having the same problem?

Not cool.

Hoppefully one of the ford blokes on the forum will be along at some point to try and help you.

Have you had the diff replaced or the gear box?

I would spring for :

1) a written opinion of a respected driveline/diff workshop.

then:

2) attach said report to solicitors letter and then have a beer.

a little bit of $$ but atleast youll get some result

hey mate, I dont want to give much away, but I work at a dealership in sydney and am aware of one car, an fg f6, on its 4th tailshaft. With 3 previous centre bearings being the

reason they failed. I couldnt fault any other driveline item that could have caused this repeated issue, apart from once it had the usual cracked diff bushes. If you want more info, private message me.
