I have just been informed that the Aurion supercharger will run much longer without a rebuild, than the Garrett Turbo's on Falcons. The salesman suggested up to twice as LONG. He also indicated that the garrett will last up to 200K if properly serviced. therefore he is suggesting that 400K is possible. I am aware that heat soak is a problem for a turbo. But is it an issue for a roots style supercharger. Any one confirm or deny this information, cheers

I would say he is basing his "Facts" on the little knowledge he has and is trying to appear as if he has a clue.

There would be too many variables as to how long somehting would last. I am sure you could break a TRD in 10,000km if driven hard, as you could with a T.

There is no hard and fast rule to say Turbos last a shorter time than a SC.

Was he trying to sell you the TRD by chance ?

They'll last longer on average because most buyers favourite colour is beige and they don't thrash their cars? hehe :crybaby:

I wouldn't be concerned about the supercharger itself, rather the serpentine drive belt that will be put under plenty of stress if driven hard.

Imagine one of those going at high rpm - it would be more than the blower that needed a re-build!

The TRD Autions are a nice car, I nearly bought one, but thankfully I saw the light and bought a T instead. What put me off was that TRD stopped making them due to the financial crisis and parts would be a bit hard to get.

That and all I ever hear is that front wheel drive is terrible with power. Including from my mate who paid for a new FN2 Civic TypeR which he's since chipped. "I wouldn't buy FWD again".
