Picked up the car from the ford dealer where it has been in for a new diff and some other warranty bits and pieces while I was away for 3 weeks, anyhow they let the dry cell go flat then re charged it. Now as soon as you turn the key and the ignition goes on the siren from the factory security goes off and sounds like a sick frog until you pop the bonnet and it immediately stops; meaning that to start the car I have to turn on the ignition the siren goes off so pop the bonnet, close it, and then hit the starter button, also the beeps when you click the lock unlock don't beep anymore.

Has anybody else had these weird alarm issues or do they get all emotional when the battery charge is low? The workshop guy said there is a backup battery in the alarm and it is flat and needs to be drive to charge up which sounded like a stab in the dark to me?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Fitted the new Odessey and still the same. I'm sure this thing is jinxed. The service manager was burbling on about a backup battery in the unit :roflmbo: . I would just shoot it but that would probably break the circuit and the thing would never go again. Can't win with this mongrel. I might need a witch doctor to remove the curse :roflmbo:

Well five minutes after the last post the alarm got all emotional and went off and wouldn't turn off, now the unit is pulled out of the car wrapped in a blanket under the plastic boot tray in the boot screaming its head off. POS :roflmbo: At least the car still starts and runs properly. Seems these alarms are a curse when they decide to go ga ga. I've never had any alarm issues wuth my other FPVs. Maybe the 3 year built in obsolesence is kicking in a bit early. Anyway Fords problem on Monday :roflmbo:

Yeah, its a weird one. I bought the new battery and fitted it nothing changed. The service manager said the battery in the alarm was dead and needed a recharge. That was not rigt as when it went off it sounded loud enough to piss off all and sundry then it finally shut up after screaming away in the boot for an hour or so.

The car goes fine with the thing disconnected and I'm back to the US in 10 days so Ford can have it and fix it up.

I have to say LynFords in Perth did do a great job replacing the diff etc when I was away so this alarm thing can just wait now.

It turned out to be the alarm unit under the bonnet with the siren in it. Apparently its common because they don't stand up to good against the turbo heatsoak :turboboink:

hi hypnodoc, what did u get replaced with your alarm going off, and where is the siren positioned. Mine keeps going off every time u start it. Ford up here don't know, which is surprising after reading so many ppl are also having dramas. Replaced main battery, alarm still goes off. Becoming annoying.
