There's a product used by Solartint that is recommended for the BA's.... CharCool I think is the name.

Same warranty against fade, peel, purple etc etc so it can't be all bad.

If the metal is different in formula one tint, I guess that's why I haven't noticed any change in reception using metallic tint.

The formula one film from tint a car works really well and is superior to the dye based tints in terms of heat reduction.

My 2 cents say I am happy with the risk I took to do all metal.

Hi All

It's interesting to hear all the different views on window film.

I've been tinting for almost 15 years and I've seen some remarkable improvements in technology applied to this industry in that time.

Up until 6 months ago we were told by one film supplier that it's okay to use metalised film on cars fitted with rear screen antennas as they'd been applying it to european cars for years.

Now that they are able to supply a suitable film they say metalised films should not be used. (what the?)

The point is they are trying to sell what they have available at the time, that's business.

As consumers we need to investigate any product throughly before we invest our hard earned dollars on it.

Like SJW I too was looking forward to using the latest technology Full Metal film (Nickel Alloy) called Ultima on my new car (made by the same company that make Tint-a-Cars' Formula One). It stops 60% heat and in Qld that's important.

Unfortunately when I decided on the BA XR6T this was not the most suitable choice of film for this car. As I spend a lot of time in the car listening to the radio I wasn't going to risk it, after all there no money in tinting your own car once let alone twice!!

Although we don't do the local Ford dealers cars, we do tint a lot of BA XR's. Some choose to go with Full Metal, some choose Metalised (Metal and Dye combined) and others use what I've put on my own car, EMINM 35 (Electro Magnetic Interference Non Metalised 35% light transmission). It's only been on the market since April 2003 so some of you will not have had the opportunity to use this film.

We don't use much dyed polyester film these days, it's just too unstable, I've seen it fade and go purple within 2 years, even though it may have a Lifetime Warranty it doesn't covers colour change. To our customers this is just unacceptable.

ENINM 35 is the highest performing film suitable for cars with rear screen antennas. It stops 50% heat. As an added bonus it happens to look darker than most other films in the legal range, hell we even put it on Commodores. People like it that much after seeing my car they say "I want that film on my car".

Bear in mind though if you were to compare the factory glass in a Late model camira and the BA, the Falcons' glass is a little darker for some reason.

I've posted a number of times on this subject if anyone wants to know more about the most suitable film for their needs just do a search on 'tint'.

If you have no luck PM me and I'll be happy to advise you what to use. Everybody has different wants and needs, so one film won't suit everyone.

Hope this helps

Big Al,

Would you normally offer the ENINM 35 (sounds like trash rapper from the US) as the only option for a BA to your cusotmers?

The Solartint guy basically said this is the only film they will use on a BA due to radio reception, not sure if it was ENINM 35 but it certainly was a film specifically for antenna in glass use and was fairly new....

Either way I'll get it done in a few weeks and report back!

Hi all

I do work for ford and the ONLY 35% film which I install on BA sedans and utes is EMINM. This film is warranted to match the rest of the car. We also install it on new volvos, toyota, suburu,Range rover, all new cars with antennas in the glass. We have never had any problems with this film and I always recommend it.

cheers Brett

Took the car back yesterday and had the rear window tint removed and replaced with EMINM,will go through the hills ,and the big test, the Heysen tunnels to see how it goes.

They were verry good about it,and said some gumby probably put the wrong stuff on as it was hard to tell just looking at the film what it was

Anyway good reason for a fang in the hills.
