G'day all, I have searched just about every thread on this website and a few others without getting a definitive answer....is there a limit to which the stock clutch (BF xr6t) can handle? I'm about to plan some mods and its either going to be a mal wood Opt 3 clutch or a custom tune....but will the stock clutch sh*t itself with say 260rwkw?, or again is this a tuning issue, do I run the stock clutch into the ground....bearing in mind it only sees 4000rpm once or twice a week

any help would be great

thanks jordan

The stock clutch will only handle about 240-250rwkw tops. Anything over that and you will have slipping issues....and it wont be at 4000rpm, usually it appears as it comes on boost 3k and upwards.

grab a mal wood option3, it will be the best $2k you will spoend.

I have been running the stock clutch since August with 310RWKW's, how long the clutch lasts depends on how you treat it. Mine started slipping on the trip home from the tuners and its still going, I have just had a hard time finding the time to get the new clutch in, I am going with a Mal Wood Opt3 heard only good things about them so can't go wrong.

I had an aggressive tune at 250rwkw that used to come on boost real hard at 3k. It would slip 4th, 5th, 6th gears at wot everytime. It couldnt ever do hard launches, it would just give up... when I say hard, im only talking 2-3krpm and gently drop the clutch. Im not talking about dropping huge skids or 1/4 mile launches. just a harder than normal street launch.

but, some clutches are better than others, it is well known that the stock one is too weak though. depends on your driving style.
