Think it varies from state to state. I got 9 gallons for US$20 this afternoon, half a tank in the Vette. I don't know the math to litres but US$20 is about AUD$23 today I think. Whatever it works out to its a lot bloody cheaper than Perth :icon_ford:

I think they are normally about US$180 a day but I jumped my corporate from AVIS Preferred (because they are useless :brightidea:) to Hertz Gold and they gave it to me for 14 days for US$850 with full comp insurance and a complimentary tank of fuel as an introductory welcome, and who was I to argue :roflmbo:

Tell you what, its growing on me big time, except for the yellow.

I was going to get a 427 Roush Mustang when I move over here later this year, but the Vett is an awesome car and you can get 640HP version here for US$80,000 so the Mustang will stay at the Ford dealer I guess

Been home 10 days and miss that bloody Corvette. I think it was the scream of the V8 and the whoooosh in the back when you nailed it beyond 2500. The F6 seem like a bit of a high speed goat with emphysema in comparison :sold: . I'm going back on the 25th for another 2 weeks of it :icon_ford:

Apparently the base model C6 corvettes do 0-100km/h in the low 4 second range. Similar power, lighter body, wider tyres, and better suspension - of course it's gonna smoke the F6. The base model is 50K USD, that's cheaper than what the Nissan 370Z costs in Australia. I'm loving America.

Whatever suspension is underneath they have an electronic gizmo inside that clicks to Performance and they stick like the proverbial sh!t to a blanket. They are a fibreglass shell built around an LS3 with rather impractical with very ordinary fast fade brakes, very noisy although the LS3 sounds awesome when its set to work, they are also too low to the ground, only carry one passenger, seats are quite hard, and they need a boot, but man are they a great thing to drive :buttrock: .

I think my R Spec or any well tweaked Turbo falcon would run with one of these quite happily until the twisty bits appeared. Vettes are affordable enough over there although few would pay the asking price here as there are plenty of better cars you could buy.

Mr Hertz USA Can Make Your Driving Dreams Come True :spoton: . LA and NY you can basically rent anything from a Vette, or Shelby to a Ferrari and the US Powers That Be are not obsessed with speed cameras or pinging drivers for speeding.

You can do Tampa to Miami 4 hours on cruise control at 100 - 120mph, most other cars are hovering around the same speed and not a Speed Cam or HWP car in sight :pooh: . Same from New Jersey down through Delaware to Maryland, or LA down to San Diego, just the very occasional Crown Vic pulled back into the bushes and going by at 90 to 100mph won't stir them into action :spit: .

All that is just a fading dream here in the nancy country
