When I got back in at around 3:30pm and started it, the entire car started shuddering and it was having a lot of problems just idling. I figured it was the heat and drove off, but the car had less power than a scooter so I got really concerned.

This time, when I started it, everything was fine and it drove like a dream again.

Saw this exact scenario this morning. Not heat related. If you touch the throttle AT ALL as you start it you will throw out the drive by wire's baseline reading. It resets on restart if you don't touch the throttle.

I used to use Woolies petrol in my EB (stock I6) all the time for years and never had a problem. I think I wil be sticking to the name brand servos in future for the turbo though.

Have you had any problems with Mobil fuels? The reason I ask is that Woolies do not use independent suppliers but actually use Mobil - I've been using Woolies for a good while, when I can get it, and had no probs at all. I also use Optimax and it is OK too.

In Melbourne at least I believe the woolies (safeway) use there own fuel that comes from asia somewhere.

Definately not supplied from the major suppliers.

I strongly do not recommend Safeway fuel.

A not so funny thing happened to me on the way home from work today.

Firstly my car has done just over 4,000 kms and has run like a dream, infact like many have said the performance seems to have got better after a few thousand on the clock.

When I jumped in to start it tonight it didn't fire up first kick. Tried again and after a few seconds it kicked over.

I took off and it sounded like a VW beetle with the power to match. My first thought was dirty fuel, I'm no mechanic.

I remembered a few guys posting about a shuddering engine and how it just fixed itself so I drove on hoping for the best. Fortunately I only live a few km's from work so I nursed her home. I put her to bed with the problem still there.

I'm hoping that after a good nights sleep she will be like new in the morning but if not I'm going to nurse it straight to the dealers.

Having read back over this thread it seems like the guys that have had this problem in the past have just started it up next day and the problem has fixed itself.

Anyway we will see and I will post the outcome tomorrow.

It was all a bad dream.

This is bizarre how the car fired up and was no problem this morning.

I am not the only one this has happened to as you will read so anyone who has the same problem I would say turn the car off, leave it for a while and start it up again.

Who knows what causes this shuddering engine but hopefully no long term damage results.

Take it back to the dealer and get them to check it over mate, you paid the money, you want a car that is spot on.

I still can't believe that my dealer had never encountered or heard of this problem when I took my car back even though they'd sold dozens of the damn things!
