Mate it mounts the same and takes exactly the same element, hence you use your old top. It can't go any 'deeper' or occupy more room - there isn't any. The one and only difference between the two boxes is the snork diameter entry.

Lucky you're good at fitting blinds mate :roflmbo: . Jokes aside, I suspect the only problem with the standard box is air starvation due to an 'undersized' entry. If anyone has a standard box lying around, I'd love to get maybe Lee (RDP) or someone to dyno test a letter box modded version, against the XR8. I'm betting - no difference. But, need to wait until I sell mine first or it might be worth nothing :crybaby:

I'll take jacqs FG next dyno day and also both airbox's and we'll see what's what ! I am also sure Lee has already done that before with 10kw gains.

I expect the problem is the restrictive entry !

Yeah that would be good Rab. F6mark was telling me he's seen Lee do a letter box mod - that's the real test. I don't doubt the XR8 box will outperform an 'unmodified' standard version, but modifed so the box is no longer starved, I'm not so sure. Maybe with the bonnet shut you'll get some better 'clean air' because of the bigger snork, but I don't know. Like always, Dyno is the only way.

I went 11.6 with standard setup

Another has gone 11.2

So the fastest small turbo, stock turbo XR6t G6Et. At the moment uses a stock intake k&n panel only

I went from turbo side to stock no difference, dyno power will be slightly down on a 300rwkw beast, but driving there's o difference and stock there isn't either as at 238rwkw it's not a restriction

That said I will refit the xr8 lower half when I get a cooler with piping that allows it, as at 310rwkw it is a slit restriction, but with 320rwkw being the limit of a small turbo model there's not really that much to gain
