Directly from ford. It cost me $100 for an XR8 Snorkel and Intake box with the panel filter.

It has been reported on here before that the XR8 snorkel and airbox makes no difference on the F6. The XR6T is a different story though.

That makes no sense, but stranger things have happened. I ran this combo but unfortunately, it doesn't fit my new cooler pipe kit :crybaby: . Got me thinking. The airbox is identical in size, as is the outlet. Ultimately, the CFM capacity of the filter element which in my case is a K&N, determines the amount of flow. So, if this combo delivers a 10rwkw gain, it can only be due to the amount of 'available' air to the box, which is increased with the larger snork.

With that in mind and looking at the V8 snork again today, the additional entry point is actually at approximately the same level as the connection to the box. So, if air starvation is the issue and certainly the V8 snork delivers more, why not just 'letter box' mod the box? If done on the headlight side, you will get some clean air from under the bonnet and IMO, the potential to suck hot air is actually reduced (over the V8 snork's secondary intake) because it's further away from the engine/radiator. And again, we're talking about available air to the box here which is the only difference the V8 snork provides. Once in there, everything else the same - the CFM capacity of the filter doesn't change, nor does the outlet diameter.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, or better still has done this mod, I'd be keen to know how it went because I don't really want to change the intake again at this stage. Cheers, Bomber.

was just thinking (sometimes I do that) how does a pod in a box get clean air? No snork so...

You can leave it on or cut holes in the bottom of the airbox

inlet is much bigger hence more intake. box is deeper, so getting more air rammed in ! direct feed from drivers headlight to turbo inlet would be best result hence battery relocation ! I am not a fan of the passenger side mounting of airbox's.too close to gutter where wate3r lies....

our FG does seem to pull a bit harder but I wouldn't say hugley different but a bit more noisey.

Rab if talking about the V8 lower v's OEM box, they're identical in size so not "deeper". The only difference is the entry diameter of the larger snork. Peharps your comments were about a pod?
