Just trying to figure out whether I got a Friday build (My car is leaving me with a bit of a lemon taste in my mouth at the moment)

Have any / many of you had more than one thing fixed on your BA XR6 so far?

My list reads:

Water Pump O-ring

Windscreen whistle (Still doing it after a re-seal)

Cracked vanity mirror (Still waiting for a part)

Lower timing gear failure (Had to be towed)

Front brake discs machined (X 2)

New Diff (Maybe X2 - got more backlash with the new one)

New Gearbox (5th gear synchro)

Love the turbo when it's going well :D :D

Hate it when I'm driving a loan car :( :(

Looks like everything on your list are known issues that people here have experienced, you were just unlucky enough to get a car that has many of them :(

Good luck with the warranty work, it can get frustrating

For various reasons (mainly $$$) I haven't yet got a new T or XR8, but certainly aiming to in the next 12 months. At the risk of being seen as a little critical here guys, I'm more than a bit concerned about the countless threads concerning quality (or lack thereof). My 1994 ED XR6 is approaching its 10th birthday, and aside from wearable items, I've replaced one faulty item in the life of the car......an alternator. That's it!!!!! Are Ford pushing them out the door too quickly at the expense of quality?

My family has had a range of Japanese and the odd European cars over the years, and most are very, very good with few problems. Are we being a little too forgiving of Ford here???

I really hope that the Series II addresses some of these issues, and that Ford lift their game both for existing owners and prospective purchasors.

Brent.

BrentS,

I have an XR6T with 8800 on the clock and to date I've had zero (0) issues!

I do have premium brakes and you can check the signature for the rest, but I'm one happy camper. Every car (model) has it's problems and I sometimes wonder if we're not just hearing about the problems cause those who have problems are more vocal than those who don't.

This car rocks and I'd recommend it to anyone.:pimp:

Great to hear that Ken, and maybe you are right about the 'problem' cars getting all the airtime.

I suppose I'm just coming from the direction of a person who is looking at parting with $50K that I have worked very, very hard for, and constant feedback of problems is not all that encouraging! I'm not criticising the car itself..........I reckon they're fantastic, its just the niggling warranty issues would drive me to drink over time.

Cheers.

Brent.

Currently have 9000ks on the T , a lot of them hard .Only prob todate

( touch wood) is some break shudder which at present is minimal. I plan to rectify this with DBA rotors and new pads. As stated in other threads the constant machining of the disks doesnt seem to cure the problem.

Other than that , I cant wait to drive it at every opportunity. :pimp:

Disc machined once 9000k's it now has 19000k still good.

DVD has alt whine STILL!!! (delivered in Dec.).

DVD unit ceased operating and required replacement.

Rear drivers side door is poorly adjusted and cuts the seal (second seal now knacked).

Replaced sump due to leaking sump plug.

Steering rack knock.

Alarm "upgrade" BEM does not chirp on "lock twice" as per standard BEM.

Bonnet catch broke.

Cup holder doesn't stay closed, new one on order.

Exhaust rattle fixed but has come back.

Rear brakes still scrape, I accepted the dust build-up as the cause after 18000, but it was back within 500k.

Drivers window became loose from its mount. (clunked on up and down)

And last but not least the standard "backfire'n blow the hose off" trick.

As said before these are mostly only minor issues, and easily fixed. My only advice is choose your service dealer carefully, it seems they are not all the same!

What's scary is I look at your lists and still have a list triple the longest so far for my last car. Damn hand built Eurocars - the quality is outstanding.... ;)

The XR6T will be a step up ;)

I get my XR soon as I am definately worried with the problems reported. Can anyone recommend a good warranty dealer on the north shore, thinking about taking it to Alto Ford, even though it wasn't purchased there, but is close to work.
