If you have an accident and they've installed dodgey second hand gear then Ford would have an issue warranting it if something went wrong.People I suggest that you all read you polices very carefully or even better call up a few panel beaters to find out exactly whats going on out there with a couple of the big name insurance companies. once a car gets panel repaires then its not Ford who cover the warranty on the panels its the repairer for the life of the car . I was with a Ford Dealer in parts for over 25 years and the last 10 as a sales rep and some of the stories that I can tell you .The number of times I would go out to panel shops to quote up jobs on new models only to get 3/4 of the order! would go back a couple of weeks later to find out why only to be told the insurance company did not allow the new part and they had to go seconds. Just a little warning to those buying a second hand car or having repairs made to a damaged one, Ford put the vehicle identification tags on the bottom of the drivers side A pillar for the reason that if the car gets hit at that point then the car becomes structurally unsound and they view the vehicle as a write off and so are not worthy of warranty, these tags are very delicate and can not be removed without cracking up, and ford do not sell replacement Id stickers or a couple of support brackets that are required for the pillar, beaters usually get the brackets from wrecks. and the replacement ID tags from the blokes who hand out BLUE SLIPS and are the old style square alloy with stamped numbers. You will find it very hard getting warranty from ford on certain parts like engine, trans. diff, suspension. etc. We had a bloke come in service with his GT with a problem with his diff, first thing they noticed was the tag and when asked he told them that the white ID stickers had fallen off and RTA told him to get these tags for reason of reregistration . a call to ford soon showed that the car had been taken to another ford dealer a couple of weeks prior for an AIRBAG RESET and CLUSTER RESET , a close inspection revealed certain panel repairs and Ford refused warranty on that bases of there belief that the car had been in a major accident leaving the car unsound .I was later told that ford revoked the remaining 5 months of warranty on the GT.If your FORD gets hit hard enough that it crushes the A pillars then you should be demanding from the insurance company that the car gets written off. I think it comes under the term of "UNSELLABLE REPAIR"
