just wondering what people think of the ford focus? my wife wants to get a new ford focus, but I want to go with the XR6 Turbo. Do you think the focus will be a good car?

Depends on the model. I have driven a 2.0 litre auto from the work pool and it handles bloody well. The driving position, seat, wheel, pedals relationship I don't like.

Too cramped, but then I'm 6' 2".

The engine when in front of an auto is gutless. I don't know why - just is. My mothers Laser Liatra 1.8L Ghia is much more responsive. My son'e manual KH Laser 1.8L is really much more responsive.

Then, a friend at work traded a AU XR8 manual for a three door Zetec engined manual Focus.

She loves it - saying it is nippy and comfortable.

So there you go.

I drove a 1.8 manual Focus for a day while my XR6 was getting the last of its rust/sound proofing applied and the Aux Audio input installed.

I hadn't realised quite how powerful the XR6 is until I had to suffer a day with the Focus. :)

Though, to be honest, its a nice car, pretty easy to drive. It has a decent amount of power for its size and its real easy to park. I found the interior to be functional but nowhere as nice as the Falcon range (go figure). For its price bracket, its alright, but I haven't really looked around at whatever competition it has.

I love the exterior only on the more sportier mods.

but the interior is a little out of there, I find it to cramped and not nice at all.

But bring on my XR6T ute anyday. I just hit the 1000km mark this morning.

OH I LOVE THE LOOKS I GET AT THE LIGHTS.

I think that the new ford focus is a good car to buy. In europe they are selling like hot cakes, and about 500 mill have been sold in europe+north america. And won 4 car of the years over there. So my advice to u is to buy a 2.0 L or a FPV version for good performance. But the xr6T is also as good.

Good Luck!!! :ermm:
