hello everyone.

I have had my ute tuned for about 4 months now and I am worried that it is pinging, I know what it sounds like and what I am hearing sounds exacally like it. I am running 98 octain fuel all the time too. the tuner out the option on my x cal to retard the timing but I am finding doing that comfusing. it has as follows.

0-2000

2000-4000

4000-8000

and when you go into them they have the timing 6deg 4dec etc etc. but how do I know what degree it is set to, to retard it slightly??? hmm

any help would be good

cheers

ps has anyone closed the gap on plugs slightly too??

I'd be taking it back to the tuner to get it rectified, otherwise youll have a bill for 6k or so in rebuilding your engine. If he still cant fix it id be asking for a full refund and take it to someone who knows what theyre doing.

ps yes plugs get regapped to 0.8 or slightly less depending on tuner preference.

Contact your tuner before doing anything.

They may be closed tomorrow to make it a long weekend for Australia Day. If that's the case just drive it around gently.
