hey guys,

After yesterdays cruise (ACT+NSW), my N/A XR6 burned a bit of oil. Approximately 300ml. Should I be worried? I topped it up this morning. Im also using Shell Eco 10-30W oil.

how many kms you got on it? very few? were you flat out trying to keep up and using alot of wide open throttle? all these can acount for some oil usage!

:) Nah its cool mate. Its just my name hahahha, no offence taken ;)

Thanx mate. My old corolla was burning lots of oil before the engine blew up one morning so I have been paranoid about checking oil every time I give it a hard trashing.

Common issue, particularly after a longish run.

All cars generate a bit of "oil", however it is only some raw fuel being added to the sump when the car is being run around town.

When you take the car on a decent run, the oil gets hot enough to vaporise the fuel off, and the oil level goes down pretty quickly.

Just top the car up and everything's fine. Most cars burn some oil, particularly the lower viscosity ones. I suggest that you change back to a 15w/40 or 15w/50 product of your choice because the 10w/30 is a bit light for our engines, either N/A or "T".

My car is better than yours!! MUCH BETTER!!!

I think it is.. I have heard many stories...

But my car chews it like petrol..

If I drive it hard, the oil light flashes at 5,000klm after a service.

You can imagine my suprise when my oil light came on at 5000klm on the oddometer :retard:

I have now accepted the fact after being rejected by Holden "They say 2.5l per 10000 is OK".

Next car will be a XR6-Tbone for sure!!
