I just felt to the need to figure out the theoretical top speed for the 6 speed manual fg xr6t with the 19" offered in the lux pack. As I said its theoretical and is all based on basic maths.

RPM: 6000

FDR: 3.73

TYRE SIZE: 245 35 R19

ROLLING DIAMETER: 2053.87

GEAR RATIOS

1st: 2.98

2nd: 1.78

3rd: 1.30

4th: 1.00

5th: 0.71

6th: 0.55

Rev: 2.90

TOP SPEEDS

1st: 66.52

2nd: 111.36

3rd: 152.48

4th: 198.23

5th: 279.2

6th: 360.42

Rev: 68.35

So there it is. Unfortunatly the new HSV has a top speed of 363.72 so there are no bragging rights there for us turbo owners but oh well. I know this is really useless infomation but some people may have wanted to know. So there it is. Take care.

Aaron.

remember its theoretical. you have wind resistance etc.

The APS falcon with 300rwkw a few years back did 300kmh. but if you saw the vid it was drifting across therunway left to right. scarry stuff. :buttonit:

guess that's what you get when you have a fast family car, and why you pay half a mill to have a car that goes that fast AND handles as well as stops.

Would be nice to see another top speed run off some of the cars pushing 400rwkw, its just finding track long enough.

I had the chance to run my fg xr6 t ute one a long piece of private road (lets hope the owner dosent read this.

My stock car dyno'd at 253rwk from c&v (honest dyno). this is what it was when I did my run.

hit 200 pretty quick. Was quicker to change at 5100ish rpm . I couldnt imagin hitting 198 in fourth as it would be a waste.

I hit 243 and was still increasing but you'd need a really long straight road (or banked corners) to keep going and at 250 you doing about 2 km per 30 seconds. Realistically unless you play with the gearing you going to top out at the top of you power curve in 5th unless you have a stack more power. so I would say 275 ish would be the top with out playing with gearing or lots more power.

also, as good as xr6 utes are, the leaf springs are not good at 250 on even slightly bumpy roads and the brakes.... well lets just say you dont want to have to stop in a hurry.

also worth noting that the utes arodynamics really effects its performance at high speed. If you look at the various 0-200 times in some magazines the utes are always a good few seconds behind the sedan.

it would be nice to organise a topspeed day somewhere but I think insurance would be a killer.
