So I'm Wondering what mods people opted for in chasing more power to reach over 300kW's and the cost... For example:*300RWKW is a lot cheaper than say 350RWKW to achieve. Both come under this poll however. *A lot of people over spend on mods not neccesarily required for low 300s in the name of safety, or buy bigger coolers than what is required so that they do it easier, without neccesarily trying to do it as cheap as they possibly can.*Auto drivers have an instant $2K advantage over owners of manual cars as any manual car needs $2K spent on a clutch replacement before attempting to join the 300 club.*Some guys do everything at home themselves and then get it tuned while others drop a car off and pay someone else to fit all of their aftermarket equipment and get a tune done. Labour alone can run to $1K plus for these guys. *Different tuners charge different amounts for their services, and the difference can be quite large. If you want to do it as cheap as possible, you could almost just do injectors and a real aggressive tune to get just over 300, but this is likely to cost you a lot more in the long run. SAPNEN Donating Members 278 Member For: 17y 1m 8d Gender: Male Posted 15/01/10 10:42 AM Author Share Posted 15/01/10 10:42 AM Ok so I should mention this is aimed at engine performance and not taking into account the driveline etc. Also this is just for comparison, alot of people spend big keeping in mind they would like big power in the future.I have done alot of the mods myself which saved a bit of dosh (WORKING WITH A BUDGET HERE PEOPLE!!!), but I have not included in the price the Option 3+ clutch kit from Mal Wood, the Battery Relocation (which hasn't changed anything yet...) etc...I also opted for 60Ib injectors instead of 42Ib which probably would have done the 300 no worries ---> did this for future powerAnywho, don't get all serious and sh*t I just would like to compare to others who have safely made this power (or more) for a reasonable price.WhAtEVER! Wingnut Member 573 Member For: 16y 10m 8d Gender: Male Posted 15/01/10 11:15 AM Share Posted 15/01/10 11:15 AM I paid over 9 for mine and makes around 310rwkw.. But it has all the fruit bar the turbo mods to make 400 going off what a couple of FGs have seen. I have been quoted around another 2k for that but I have not reached the point of bordem yet. Its extremely responsive and super quick on the street. So like the previous poster said, some of us pay more for the same result but we have different things in mind when going down that path. I reckon I could have spent 5k to get the same result but would have had to replace a couple of things to get to that next level which would have costed more. I saved heaps of dollars on installing it all myself (approx 2k of labour) Also opted for turbo modifications, bigger cooler, 4" airbox, bigger injectors, upgraded fuel pump, 4" turbo back zorst and alot of other peace of mind stuff. like craiginmackay said, you could make 300 wth a realy agressive tune but I doubt it will last long.I opted for all the good stuff because with bigger pipes and cooler it will make 300 alot easier and on a lot less boost (14-15 instead of 18-20) so therfore alot more room to expand. Gonna stop at about 330 though because of internals. Anyhow, I'll play! My old ute made 320RWKW and had the following ( not including the $2200 that I spent on purchase and instal of a twin plate clutch.)P/West Stage 2 Intercooler kit Deka 60Lb InjectorsFull CES exhaust which I picked up for free as I swapped another guy who wanted my standard exhaust. K&N panel filter Old school Cappa flash box Custom tune That is all.So that's 320RWKW for $2570.How did I do?
