It cracks me up every time Ford is releasing a new model. The rumor mills to into over drive.

Even on this site we have people from Ford giving us snippets of wisdom and HOPE. bowdown.gif Hope that Ford will finally once again build the car they can, and take back the mantel of production king. Not my choice of words. But sales figures and what every BOGAN drives calls it a fact. Hey and I read it in Motor, mag so it must be true.

If GM or HSV have a few too many Thursday arvo at the pub and come up with a funny idea. It's a three page spread in Motor the next month. Their following know whats coming at least a year down the track and can budget for it.

I'm not young, I am right in Fords FPV demographic. And could have bought a GT or F6. After lots of um ming and angst I bought a Plain XR and decided to build my own. Hey it's my money and mid life crisis. Anywho for mine, the six is the best thing going for the Aussie road and has been for a long time.

Now once again, we have all the murmur. The hallowed "HO" word appearing again. Happens with every new body shape. Even I am starting to believe it this time. Its never been doubted of Fords ability too build one. Even with the boots they have to fill. I believe in them enough to do it, and many more like me.

So here I am with the Rolling stock ready on my car. A few other bits and pieces I have been picking up over the year. Ready to start spending the bigger bucks doing the motor and drivline. And the bloody murmur murmurs. Would I buy a GT if it was the best product I could buy for the price. 75% sure I would. Can I yup. For me service plays a big part in my purchase. I buy new cars and hate the game with the salesman. I have become more dealer loyal than label. And stepping away for the first time in twenty years from my usual has sucked. Big time.

Not that my Ford one is not nice and courteous, they are. But if you are going to have my car for more than two days under a warranty repair. Then I want to be complaining it's a crappy Tossup that I was given as a loaner. Not the fact of the loaner in the first place. Not when I am paying proper money for a proper car. If I don't like something at least try and fix it and lie. Don't just shake your head and say no. Or say, yes we found a few error codes and not explain what the were dontknow.gif

I don't understand what you replied as a 6 day week for the good times? If you have the orders you would want to turn that into cash as soon as you can. And it's a long road back to your coffers.

Is the motor having quite a few major components being cast here so it will be assembled mostly here? As stupid as it sounds a simple thing like that can be a factor in a purchase. I grew up in a great time. This country has been good to me and I am very Patriotic and totally against globalization. This country is too good for that and I don't want it dragged down to the rest of the worlds level. It might not be safe in a few places here now, but at least I am not going to blow up or have a plane crash into me. But the chances of that happening are well, becoming more prominent. I would never in my wildest dreams even think there could be a chance of that happening in Australia, not just in my lifetime but my kids as well. Sound ludicrous. But I don't think any generation has seen this country "alter" like it has socialy since the poor abbo's. And I don't like it and it's not for the better if I have to worry more for mine and my childrens survival in that way. And most my age feel the same way. We have enough critters here that want or a capable of killing us. If I am a racists sorry. Tough. It's not because I naturally am. If I use to see a person of middle eastern decent I thought of curries, and strange exotic smells and places. Small markets crowded with people and produce. But now I just hope I see the day out. I travelled backpacking for many many years. Loved it so much. And when in a forien country I adopted the custom and dialect as best I could. At least learnt please and thank you. I showed as much respect as I could and still have a little fun.

So yeh what's the deal? Ha ha Yeh I know James Bond and all that. But if I drop another forty odd into this car and pine for a GT I will go back to another label, sell my dirts bikes and take up lawn bowls. Will it happen again in my lifetime? should I do this bowdown.gif or this roflmbo.gif

Well its just that ford has this habit of actually paying people to build cars, and when the 6th day is a double time saturday it costs a bit to build... :idunno:

...and a small manageable waiting list makes good business sense. Otherwise you end up like holdem...keep pumping them out till the yards are overflowing then going "oh fck - better stop production boys and sack a few hundred"

All this talk of S/C V8's.......... What about the grass roots punter like me??

If Ford put out a great sounding, high revving N/A 5.0 in an XR8 package that is comparable in performace to my stock FG turbo I would buy it in a heart beat.

I love my Turbo's preformance and crushing torque at basically any revs, but a 270-300ish KW N/A V8 that's actually goes??????? I am there!

Its pure speculation, but I am going to lay down my bets......... that Ford will keep the XR8 badge/spec level and it will have an N/A 5.0 in it.

And as this whole thread is simply speculation, how do we know FPV isnt working on getting big power outta the 5.0 with twin tubos?? I mean Ford Aus does like to play with turbos............

What I am trying to say is that its all speculation......... Where is the official announcement that the XR8 name is being dropped??

GS/XR8 ............. whatever they call it, it will be priced similarly to the XR6 Turbo's.

Ford would want a 'meat and potatoes' V8 model similar in price and spec to an SS dunnydore.

This is MY speculation, but I would make a small wager that an XR8 model will be announced later this year.........

If you want to know what IS happening read between the lines of bunna and Venom as they know the truth.

I am sure we will know the whole story in the next couple of months what the model line up will be as they cannot keep the Boss 5.4 past 30th June.

Knowing FPV, they will leave the announcements until the last minute to avoid losing sales of the Boss motor, or they will just spring the Coyote motor on us and tell us after the fact, again to avoid the Boss cars suffering.

As far as I know it wont be xr8 but GS with the NA 5.0.

Not sure if it mentions this earlier in the thread.

I don't think you will see any N/A Coyote's in the lineup. Why?

1. Mustang spec Coyote if shipped here wouldn't be sufficient.

2. Cost to enhance/develop N/A with appropriate characteristics suitable for a car (Xr8) that is several hundred kilo's heavier than the Mustang isn't justified for such low volume.

3. By applying the same fundamental design (might be a slight difference) across all V8's in the lineup (Ford and FPV) helps justify the investment.

I would be very suprised if there is no N/A option. I am sure they will offer the SC as an option on the lower spec cars and have it standard equipment on the top spec GT-P/E.

Not everyone who buys a FPV wants a supercharger on the v8, as the fuel, insurance and drivability would all be affected.

You can bet the XR8/GS models will be NA.

Where did you get your weight figures from CSP ?

2010 Ford Mustang GT Automatic

1814kg or 3999lb

2010 FG XT

1704kg
