Ah yes - because it was definitely just the blower kit that cost $40 million, and the rest of the engine just jumped in the car for free, fully developed, tested, made production capable, and released.

I know when I've been working on this program I've been doing it in my "spare" time, because I knew that the blower kit was $40 million and we couldn't afford any more.

New pistons, rods, crank, that we developed here to start with. Then all assembled in Australia, the only part we get from the US is the block and head.

Its like when the xr6T first came out, there was always potential for it to make 350kw+, but they started low and built from there. The same will apply here.

Also, the NA motor makes less torque than the current 5.4L Boss. Ford were never going to release a new engine that was less powerful than the 5.4L while HSV were releasing more powerful versions. So, bolt on a blower and yes, its only 25 more KW, but now its 570Nm of torque with a flat-as torque curve, and with newer models that will be over 600Nm... The GT should eat the HSV everywhere now, and even if HSV release a 350kw version, just wind up the boost, and Ford is on top again.

its nice to see that in the power race ford finally have the upper hand it'll be nice to see hsv go omg we finally have competition lol and then it'll just keep on going sometimes you really wonder where the power increases will finish and they'll both give in and say "I quit we've been trying to beat ford for too long" haha nice to see ford are the cream of the crop again and on another note this must be the first fpv to have the s/c standard.

From my understanding of bore configaration this engine has been designed to be a forced induction engine. Firstly the square bore configuration is taken from the Mitso evo. This motor I believe will be more suited to turbo than supercharger. I believe in turbo form it would provide Ford with a flatform that would include excellent motorsports outcomes. Further, I would be more than happy if would could go back to a V8 supercar event that ran engines that we actually bought. The motoring companys then could go back to a system of win Sunday sell Monday, Cheers

Well that's exactly what the new idea behind 'Car of the Future' is all about...

If you haven't heard about that, it's basically a whole new set of rules that V8Supercars are looking at and are aiming to move the series towards.

I'm sure if you google it you'll find all the info on it.

I am sure we will see a SC FPV running in production cars by early next year, but never in the V8SC series.

How would they create parity with a 6.2lt pushrod cast iron dinosaur (Holden) against a 5lt SC OHC VVT alloy motor (Ford) ?

One thing is for sure, I will not upgrade until they get HID's, LED's and intercoolers.

Looking at the info on car of the future on V8 supercar site it looks like they are going even further away.

Anyway, someone posted up 'spy' pics of the new GS on FForums.

Stipe package is hideous (personal opinion)

FPV give us what looks likely to be the best motor we have ever had in Australia - then ruined the great look of the FG's in both GS with the stripe package on the bonnet, and GT with the new wheels (bleurgh)

You can buy all that from Autobarn ZAP :P

Get some neons while you're at it....

Sounds like a typical salesman's response :buttrock: None of them would be ADR compliant though would they?

It is pretty lame that there's still no factory fitted HDI headlights.
