Interesting that the weight drop factor that was bandied around earlier (80KGs lighter blah blah blah etc etc) now turns out to be 30kgs. Wonder if that turn in will be any better than the lead sled......?

Sounds pretty good to me. With the extra low down torque it will be the equivalent or better than the F6 I imagine which is pretty amazing. I have an F6 because I like having a stealthier quieter six cylinder which can still get up and match or beat most things on the road. Having said that when it comes time to trade up next year I'm going to want to test drive one of these new V8 FPVs just in case ;-)

One thing that is really irritating me though is Dillz. Why on earth is he a moderator on this site? His hostility and aggression against this new engine is unreal and as bad as you get from the most die hard HSV supporters. It isn't that he is just trying to inject a voice of reason, he genuinely seems to have it in for FPV.

Why is Dillz a moderator? Seriously, I haven't posted much and tend to just lurk but I been been tempted to donate to the site in the past because I do find some of the discussion very interesting and useful. Seeing that sort of crap from a moderator totally turns me off. I'm sure I am not the only one.

He might have a moderator badge but it doesn't mean his opinion has to be sanatised.

We're just as entitled to get on our high-horse as anyone else is. I'm not for one minute saying I share his point of view, I personally think FPV are on a great thing here :hohum:

Would you prefer that moderators never have any input unless it's to dish out the occasional smack? If that's the expectation I'll be demoting myself straight away...everyone has the right to hear my opinion! :spoton:

Try not to take it to seriously mate, this is a V8 thread in an XR6 Turbo forum after all. I'm a Ford man now after the Ford XR6 Turbo converted me from the red team.

The thing that really gets up my nose is how FPV are going to release them at basically the same power as the N/A version which in my opinion is taking away the exclusivity of having a supercharged V8 and by the looks of it they will soon be as common as GT's are now anyway.

If you have a problem with me as Moderator I suggest you PM one of the Administrators with your concerns. spoton.gif

You were trolling pretty hard and trying to piss off Ford employees who if I was a moderator I would want to encourage to contribute to the forum, not annoy. They're talking about the V8 now, next year (if they hang around) they might talk about a new XRT... But as you wish.

Why do you care so much about peak power? (which is nonetheless more than all the other HSV and FPV cars). Have you seen the torque curve? Yes they've left plenty of headroom still but I imagine they have done enough to beat both the F6 and the HSVs in performance stakes (assuming they can get it down on the tarmac, they really need bigger tires).

They should blow away all the N/A FPV V8s to date.

We also have to remember that the 335 kw engine is a replacement for the old boss 315. The GT pricing remains very similar. FPV havn't supercharged the 5 litre to make a 'hero' car. They have supercharged it to give us a euro 4 compliant V8 with a torque curve that suits a near 2 ton car GT and the throttle response that GT owners have been begging for!

KW might win the schoolyard argument but we all now its torque and more importantly the spread of torque that makes a car really go!! Just look at a turbo!!
