Real Posted 12/01/10 09:57 AM Share Posted 12/01/10 09:57 AM Hey everyone! My cars coming up to its 55,000Km mark and I am looking at doing a fairly big service.Ive owned the car for just over 6 months and well am looking to Tune it all up and also I am installing a new clutch and rear diff bushes etc. I am also looking at getting a throttle body clean to stop the so called "rev drop" problem with the T56 manual and also gain better throttle response. Also I am looking at getting the Gearbox oil changed, engine and well whatever else goes in throughout a service.is there anything else important I should be considering when booking my car into for a "major" service? such as other oils, plugs, greasing, cleaning etc?any info will be great and also maybe an estimated costs. It adds no reliability at that mileage, but does add a potential source of failure to the turbo. To have a turbo failure due to this is just plain pointless...........do a search on a recent post and you will see how small this filter is.Also replace the hydraulic front bush in the lower front control arm.......a bad/sloppy one will wear the inside block of tread quite badly and shorten their life....check your tyres. While there, I would also replace the rear bush on this control arm also....all with polyurethane......just put it down to experience.....d'oh.The blade link bush on the rear should also be checked for serviceability. These are already voided as std, and are the major cause of axle tramp as the driveline loads up and releases over uneven surfaces during acceleration.A grease needle from tool shops can be used to add grease to the ball joints....just inject between the ball joint stud and the boot. This will take disassembly from the spindle but will greatly add to their life. Just add anti seize to each stud on reassembly....they will then just separate easily in the future if suspension work is required. Also, how old is the coolant?I would add some Nulon to the gearbox along with some Transmax Z to improve shift performance. If you carry out regular servicing don't believe all the hype that surrounds it as if it is serviced regularly it will be fine.At 55k kms I would reckon, as long as it has been looked after, that the majority of the suspension components should be fine. But, well worth checking none the less.As a mechanic by trade, drop me a PM and I'll give you a list of things that I personally would check.
