Should be a fairly simple straight swap. You will probably need to get it towed to a tuner if you haven't got the ECU and BEM from the original car.

If you have put a high flow cat on there, the standard tune from the original ECU will also chuck a hissy fit, also needing a tow to a tuner.

If you don't have a tuner in mind yet, I would suggest you get to know one before going ahead with the swap over.

Best of luck.

Cheers,

Ben

awesome thanks mate, its a ba so the

cat problem shouldn't exist.

on other threads here I am led to believe

that there is only a second o2 sensor after

the cat on bf's wich causes the problem

also if I get the computers from the orig car

can I just get ford to sort it out as I don't have

a flash tuner yet

and if I don't get the orig computers can ford sort it?

in less than 24 hours the old engine should be out

and the new one nestled in.

so what do I have to do.

I think I know its just I don't want to

finish it and be told I forgot to change on

random bolt somewhere and have to pul the engine again

Ford can sort out the issues I'm pretty sure. most of the wiring should be there as long as it's the same trans but there wont be anywhere to plug the wire for the butterflies in the plenum as the turbos dont have them. The loom for this should just unplug behind the air box

IT'S ALL DONE

Hopefully, it goes to ford tomorrow to get the

computers to talk and be friends, other than

that pretty straight foward. it took a little

longer than expected as there where too many smoke

breaks and ducking out to grab this and that

ok this is where the problems begin

took it to ford and they said everything

was fine, they programmed in the new computer

and it wouldn't start. they ran a diagnostic

and no fault codes came up. they reset the computer

and tried again for three hours

finally a fault code came up for a communication

fail

I think I need to wire in a wastegate solenoid

and a boost pressure sensor to the pcm so it

will stop having a cry

had the car running twice on carby cleaner, then when the

airlock was out it ran for a couple of seconds and

died. everything else is fine

car turns over

any advice would be a big help

ok it's been back on the road for a while everything

is running sweet. once I got the pcm sorted out it

turned out to be a really simple conversion

things needed: xr6 turbo engine with engine wiring harness

intercooler and pipping ( I went with all aftermarket)

turbo exhaust

boost controller ( I went with turbotech manual boost controller)

boost gauge

flash tuner (tell c.a.p.a what you have done and they'll send you a tune that works)

things not needed: xr6t pcm

a trip to ford

boost pressure sensor

wastegate control solenoid

any part of the xr6t car wiring harness

the only wiring I had to do:

because I bought a non ute engine I had to wire one of the plugs of the gearbox into the harness

the utes have a third plug on the gearbox harness that from what I could tell the sedans don't

so all I did was follow the wires it spliced into on the original harness and followed then to the pins on the plug next to the pcm. then I cut them and spliced them into the correct wires on the new harness.
