Euro 5 is easy, no problem at all.

But the I6 is dead in 2015 when Falcon switches to a global platform as there's no way they will design it to suit 2 different 6 cylinder engines that are so dimensionally different. It will be V6, V6TT and V8. Having an I6 would require a higher bonnet and longer front end.

Bonnet height is more of an issue with the V8.....

Agreed, there is a lot of good tech in the Taurus, but why'd they have to half arse an upmarket large car by giving it FWD ? Not even the Japanese car makers are crazy enough to make a 2 tonne FWD.

ummm silly question here, but for us consumers that are already driving cars that dont meet the new emissions act, are we required to do anything? Or just carry on driving our big I6 around??

how well does a 2-tonne fwd car put 365hp to the road?

If they aruion struggles with a measly 200kw, the new taurus would be a horrible thing to drive fast....

nice engine though...

I think if you look you will find that the 2015 Falcon is going to share the RWD platform of the new mustang. And it will be a joint effort ha ha in other words they are going to use the Rear end from the FG in it. Well a modified version of it.

The powers that be know that we wont yet and probably for a long time accept a FWD Family car. Hense the poor sales of the Aurion, the death of the Magna/380

If you take out Gov and company cars sales the Aurion is a flop.

We dont do the big F150 over here like they do there. We are happy to tow the boat and caravan with the big Aussie sedan.

But that is for now. When fuel goes over $1.70 per liter, we may change our minds. (well not us per say) And as the petrol companies have been forced to keep thier prices down for the last 18 months that could come sooner than we think.

Such a pitty really. In 1977 we actually exported 25% of our crude. Or had a 25% surplus. Now we import 30%. Yet we have so many untapped wells in the bass strait alone. George Bush tried to keep quite a massive oil reserve found in the mid west of the US. But it has become public now. Possibly a resourse of crude larger than the total output of Uraq.

Why? because he and daddy have a deal with the rag heads, no offence. Because he and daddy own major shares in a defense company that is the major supplier to the US army.

We need to get the F out of dodge (Afganistan and Uraq) Because our boys are just putting us in the gun sights when they have no grief with us.

Afganistan was Veitnam and Korea combined to the Russians. 21 years they fought there and lost. Do we want to be a part of that, a war we will never win. I have a great respect for our soldiers so don't get me wrong or call me unpatriotic. They do what they are told to do by dickheads who have never even smelt gun opil let alone the stench of blood.

US forien policy has been a joke world wide since the 60's. And now they have dragged us into it.

Shame on you George jnr and snr.
