I've got a T5 in my 03 T. its now running 335rwkw with 190xxx on the clock (previous owner did ALOT of highway k's) the clutch was replaced with a standard one not long before I got it. the clutch slips in third but the gearbox feels perfect. never had any problems with it, treat them good and they will go longer than you think.

I've got 275kw's with a t5, and I love it. never had an issue, and for the last 2 years I have been running

a 5 puck brass button clutch, which I've done over 60,000 kms on. and its never missed a beat

now that I've said that I bet the bastard will stuff up tomorrow

ive got an ancient 02 model t5 equipped xr6t...runs 254rwkw box handles it fine...it can be a bit of a pain on cold morning but once all the temps are up, it seems to be ok...a rough guide for the t5 is around 300rwkw they start to suffer a little...snapping gears with 270 plus rwkw will usually see the box start to fall apart...

My old T5 was tuned to 241rwkw and did several track and drift days. I only had it for 18 months before I got the F6, but it held together.

The guy who got it after me got a new clutch under warranty, tuned it up more with injectors and blew the gearbox up. While I gave the car a hard life, I was kind to the gearbox. I think this makes all the difference. If you drop the clutch and launch hard, it will not last even with stock power, but treat it kinder and it should last ok.

I think the main problem with them is to a lesser extent the 1-2 change but mainly on the 2-3 change, when the motor is producing

its maximum torque, the box doesnt handle the cog swap under this condition, and all the boxes I have seen fail, have been on 2-3 shift

The other statements are quite right, the T5 is a weak box, but there is help. A 6 speed conversion is expensive as are T5 parts here in Aust, but if you go onto the internet google the geerbox shop in the US and you can but all sorts of bute stuff to put into your T5. my boys and I race a XF ute with a 383 boss motor (about 460 hp) with a T5 built with close ratio gears all purchased from the above mentioned site the gears l/shaft f/shaft and bearings with freight cost lees than the l/shaft from a ford dealer here in Aust.

My T5 has been perfect for running 330rwkw in my ba ute for 2 years now but the standard clutches dont stand a chance on the dyno, they just keep slipping. The clutch is the weakest point in the driveline and once upgraded you shouldnt have a problem if you drive smart... :buttrock:
