Sleeper6T Member 356 Member For: 16y 7m 5d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 10/01/10 03:03 AM Author Share Posted 10/01/10 03:03 AM Well went to take it for the drive down to the pool and only got around the block. When you take off on first it feels like you're taking off in 3rd. I don't smell anything and don't hear or feel anything as I change gears either. How much will a MW3 set me back? My concern is that the one I have is only a bit over 2 years old.CheersBrad Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/64968-engine-over-reving/page/2/#findComment-969506 Share on other sites

Some drivers tend to ride the clutch more when taking off or changing gears. Some drivers are lazy and will tend to keep it in a high gear the dip the clutch waying for engine revs to build etc, there are many many factors affecting clutch life.Another possibility is it has oil impregnated into the clutch plate from an oil leak Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/64968-engine-over-reving/page/2/#findComment-969516 Share on other sites

Dont know if that can help cause the problem or not but it's something ive always done as it's how I was taught to drive. I had a look to see if anyone was selling an opt 3 clutch but all that was there which only sold the other day was an opt 5 which he was going to let go for $500. Looking around on MalWoods page looks like a brand new opt 3 is approx $1500 plus fitting. Dont know what you guy's charge or Nizpro for that matter but either way is going to hurt the hip pocket.CheersBrad Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/64968-engine-over-reving/page/2/#findComment-969519 Share on other sites

Is rated to 410rwk which is more than enough for me. Will try and get some pics of the old Opt 3 Clutch before it is sent back to Mal. Interested to see how worn it is, as the car pretty much doesnt have any grab left.Brad Edited 11/01/10 01:16 PM by Sleeper6T Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/64968-engine-over-reving/page/2/#findComment-969955 Share on other sites
Wingnut Member 573 Member For: 16y 8m 26d Gender: Male Posted 11/01/10 07:23 PM Share Posted 11/01/10 07:23 PM Sorry to hear buddy... You been giving my old girl a pounding hey? lolOr maybe Nat doesnt know how to drive a real car Anyway, Im sure the new Mal Woods will fix it up. It could just come down the fact you have had a few different people driving your car of late and your clutch has taken the toll. I remember the same exact feeling when it still had the T5 and the Xtreme clutch was fukced.. Difference being I blew the gearbox as well LOL Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/64968-engine-over-reving/page/2/#findComment-969974 Share on other sites
Sleeper6T Member 356 Member For: 16y 7m 5d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 11/01/10 08:01 PM Author Share Posted 11/01/10 08:01 PM As you know mate I've had it just over a year, I reckon ive taken it past 4000 rpm maybe 5 times and to 5000 rmp once. Since I have had a couple others drive I have been in the car nearly everytime and the one person that has driven it on her own knows how much it means to me, and apart from riding the clutch a couple of times like when parking or going slow into a driveway she's taken good care of it. Mark's gonna take it out and have a look to see which type of opt 3 it is so he can tell Mal, I wanna get a couple pics and then he will be sending it back to Mal. In all honesty mate I'm thinking ofselling up. Between the CV joint going the pissy plastic part on the master cylinder and now this, the cost of getting these things fixed is out weighing the fun of driving it. I'm looking at over 2 grand now. If I was doin track days or it was being driven hard then I'd be able to accept it easier, but not from general daily driving. Anyway see what happens Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/64968-engine-over-reving/page/2/#findComment-969976 Share on other sites
