So road trip...

Pack the car off down to Gumbya Park with couple friends and couple kids, was a stinker of a day but had an awesome time especially the water slide and the tobogan ride haha, anyway leave for the day notice on the way home while my cousin was driving, what I thought was him being too accelerator happy was in fact an issue with the car over reving and taking a while to actually grab power.

Everytime he just tapped the accelerator instead of feeling the power transfer through to the wheels, the turbo spooled up and the rev's just shot up dramatically and we basically didnt gain any extra speed, power or momentum on the road. It was only if he drove like a granny and slowly accelerated and changed through the gears did it sound normal.

I have requested a service at Nizpro once they reopen in another week so hopefully it is nothing major but thought id just ask if anyone has experienced this before or knows what it could be.

Cheers

Brad

Yeah mate had a thought it could be the clutch, as the cousin did ride it a bit, and found it hard to get used to. It's a 6 speed Manual T56 with Mal Wood Opt 3 Clutch. Does it in every gear except 6th as didnt use it today.

as above I think your clutch is about to die

also if your engine has fuel supply problems it can run like you describe , blocked fuel filter maybe or fuel pump on the way out

Interesting you say Trevs, as only the night before I filled up with Ultimate for the first time in probably 6 months. Have been using V Power for quite a while. Will see how it is in the morning and then see how it go's throughout the week until I can get it to the Nizpro boys.

its easy to check to see if your clutch is the problem

start the car leave your hand brake on and put you car into 2 or 3 gear and slowly let the clutch out giving it a bit of engine revs if the car tries to stall or does stall your clutch is more likely still ok

now you know your car and were about the clutch would normaly grab and stall the engine is it still the same place

or can you let the clutch almost the whole way out without the engine stalling

cheers trev

Nah neither of us do that, there is plenty of room on the left to rest your foot without feeling the need to put it on the clutch. He drives a little pulsar Q so it's a bit of a thrill for him obviously, and being a Expensive Daewoo man he has actually said my car would make him change teams, the most he got it up to was about 5000 rpm after taking off from the lights and was met with a short hard jab to his arm right after, which is something I reckon I have done maybe twice in the year and a bit ive had the car. But cos he did ride the clutch a couple times at lights I did smell, not so much a burning smell but a smell that basically was like the clutch was saying 'um excuse me you need to back off'.

Trevs will give your suggestion a go soon and let you know. It's another stinker already so few of us are heading down to the pool so I'll see how it go's on a 10 min trip.

Sounds like your clutch has had it, the clutch should give you no smell at all if working correctly.

Every time the clutch slips it wears very quickly and will slip easier the next time power is applied.

If you are lucky it may not slip after it has cooled, but even if it feels ok I would guess the clutch is now near the end of it's life.

good luck
