Just wondering what people have experienced with different brand pump fuels.

I've got an FG XR6T, 3 months old and just over 9,000K's, ZF auto. I've run Shell V Power in it since new, but the other day I was desperate and I put Caltex Vortex or what ever it's called.

Since I did this the idle hasn't been quite right, just about stalled on me at the lights when pulling up, generally doesn't seem right.

What have you lot experienced?

there is a huge thread on peoples experience with fuels. Search for it.

Vortex98 is very good. I use to use it and BP in my 300zx. My tuner rated it better then shell+mobile.

My BA is tuned to 100 octane from united. Great fuel! Instant extra 2 degrees more timing. Each tuner will give you a different story on which fuel. Choose 1 tuner and 1 fuel and use them both.

Maybe I should clarify a few points first. The car is close to stock, just XR8 air box and K&N, so tuning or tuners perspectives is irrelevant, in saying that I've been using Optimax in my tuned cars since it hit the market, 1.2lt motors making 240+rwkw on moderate boost :buttonit:

As I said I'm concerned that the car isn't quite right just after changing fuel provider, so my question was has anybody else experienced the same or similar in their FG's?

Ive used vortex 98 since new and runs fine. I've tried BP ultimate a few times for a comparison but did not notice any difference. If anything it didnt feel as snappy when getting up it. I did accidently put vortex 95 in once and it ran like sh*t for a week.

I wonder if cars that get run in on a certain fuel, will always run better when using that same fuel in its life.

Most probably could of been a contaminated batch of fuel.

Use it up and fill up with what you normally put in it, then youll know if it is the fuel or not.

Bad fuel is always a possibility. That's why a good tuner will first make the power and then pull a couple of degrees for a safety margin.

I haven't noticed a difference with any brand of 98 fuel. Using 100 on the odd occassion when I lived in Bonbeach, it did seem to be a bit crisper.
