G'day, I've just finally bought a bf mk1 magnet 6spd man xr6t ute :D

Now what are the best ways to get power gains out of it? Can I get it tuned with everything standard and run 8psi through it?

I will be getting a k&n pod filter, exhaust etc while I save to get some work done to it at nizpro. Or can I do it cheaper?

Any help would be appreciated, will be throwing a large % of my paycheck towards it until its an absolute animal ;)

Btw, are these utes fairly reliable stock? can I do the odd burnout (drop the clutch) and power slide out of roundabouts (when noones around ;) ) without worrying about blowing the diff, gear box, sh*t like that?

Cheers,

Floyd

Edit: Also getting the woooooooosh out of it, would it be good to get a different bov? And any ideas on what a good loud mean exhaust would be? thanks again.

Congrats on your purchase. In stock form the utes are very reliable.

What is the build date? Cars after built after 05/06 had the beefier bottom end and valve springs so can be a lot more agressively tuned as a result before opening her up.

Consult your tuner regarding what you want to achieve so he can guide you on which way to go. Use the search engine here too as it is a great tool for working out what you may need to do and how much to budget, depending on where you want to end up.

As it is a manual, you will need to budget money for a decent clutch into the equation, so I would do this in the first round of mods along with an aftermarket cooler, K&N filter, a set of bigger squirters and a tune.

congratz on the buy. Usually these are pretty reliable stock. my diff coped a hard 3 years of burnouts, 2nd gear dumps even when it was modded and only had a slight prob with the diff. plus the 6speeds are tuff so dont worry about that 2 much. enjoy

its build date is may so I know I didnt get the beefire bottom end. ohwell.

It drives like a dream, really happy with it.

Its done 95k on the dial. Im guessing the clutch has copped some abuse, I can smell it and it slips when I drop it in 1st and second. Dont know if this is from normal abuse. But getting a new one will be on the priority list. how much will it take for the 350rw killa wasps mark? though its got plenty.... for now :)
