Guys the other day I noticed the clamp on the throttle body hose was totally loose(turbo to throttle body pipe clamp)...so I tightened it as you do....

I took the car for a drive and noticed instantly it was boosting much harder...(harder than ever before)...the factory blow off valve was also much louder...I thought great until the car started going into limp mode...I assume its overboost...

The car is totally stock standard...but im thinking that the clamp on the throttle body hose was probably left loose on purpose as a quick fix to a pre existing overboost problem...(Ford service dept quick fix...)

At this stage I have disconnected the battery to reset the computer but to no avail...I have also checked actuator hoses...and wd40d the boost slolenoid...

Any advise or suggestions is appreciated...

Thanks

It live in the western suburb of melbourne. I can connection my flash tuner to find the error code for you.

Also check the wiring to the pressure sensor and the boost solenoid .

presently experiencing unusual performance issues from my BA XR6T, it has been suggested that the engine may be experiencing "over Boost" (which apparently shuts out 3 cylinders which will continue for 20 - 40 seconds or until the engine is free revved) my engine breaks down during a full power run, looses power, no throttle response, slows down to a crawl & will continue to behave this way until the engine is shut down & restarted - does this sound similar to your problem in particular the "Limp Home" mode

Overboost, so yes its in limp mode. I had this problem when I first had my car tuned with a TSI piggyback. once it overboosted the symptoms were exactly the same as you Kellar and only restarting the car would fix it, until the next overboost!

interesting post. I've just checked my car and one of the clamps on the pipe from the turbo to the crossover was totally loose. The car has just been serviced by Ford. Totally stock BFII.

Is Ford doing this deliberately to prevent possible overboosting? I've tightened it up and gone for a drive and it is boosting harder but not hugely so. Should I leave it as is or loosen it back up?

Thanks for the post, Think I have located the issue, W/Gate actuator diaphragm has failed, which will obviously cause over-boost, will replace and advise the outcome.

The circled clamp was completely loose on my car. As far as I can see it runs from the air box thru the cross over to the turbo.

Have no idea how long it has been like that. Guessing it is asking too much to expect Ford Service to pick it up? Has it been sucking air and dust and other crap into the engine?
