Ok straight to the point,

while the car is under load usually in second gear, I hear a noise like something is rubbing or slipping. didnt happen usually. I drove it for about a week but never put it under load so I wouldn't damage anything further. when I turned the car off yesterday the turbo fan seemed to spin for about 20seconds and sounded like it was rubbing on something like it wasn't well lubricated at all(oil levels were fine im careful in that way). finally I got the time to goto the mechanic today. as soon as I popped the hood he seemed to know the problem. I don't live in Australia and there is only 1 of my car in this country but this guy seems to do a good job on my car. anyway he told me that the fan rod or whatever is snapped and the fan is not functioning but rather freely spinning on its own. I am translating what he told me so I dont know all the words and everything. he pretty much told me they cannot rebuild turbos and no one in this island can do it. Im coming to Australia (Geelong-Melbourne area). my question is, does anyone care to explain what exactly happened to my turbo and can I do anything about it?? do I need a new one or can it be rebuilt? he told me that I only need to take the front of the turbo and not the part that's connected to the exhaust but its still pretty heavy and I am flying 22hours do I wanna make sure they can fix it before I haul it overseas with me.

2007 Model BF XR6Turbo ute. Magnet Pack is my ride.

currently I am not driving my car anymore to make sure there isnt anymore damage.

Strange description indeed. Best bet would be to bring the whole turbo. If it's repairable it may be cheaper than a new one.

Got any pictures of the turbo that you can upload?

It would be easier to try and explain if you have pictures as your description is confusing.

that's pretty cool haveing the turbo in cyprus.

have you ever taken it on the ferry to mainland europe? maby a trip to Germany and while your there a quick spin on the ring?

Was it much hasle to register as this could be a cheap option for expats in Europe (register in cyprus and drive it around england)

it was a BIG hassle bringing it here. and I doubt anyone will ever attempt it seeing as though I paid alotttttttt of tax to bring it here. never tried to take it out of the country though. after I fix it I will definitely be looking to cruise around Europe to see everything. such a great cruising car. love it but unfortunately problems do occur.
