My Bf xr6t has two. I think the one after the cat doesn't do much because the people that tuned my car turn is off so I could add my wideband air/fuel ratio sensor in.

All bf's will have 2, unless it is a V8 and then it will have 4.

The rear o2 is just for monitoring the cat convertor and has very little affect on mixtures, but if it does not work or the cat is faulty it will trigger a fault in the ECU, this can be turned off when custom tuning.

Does the O2 sensor need regular replacement on these cars?

I've heard of some jap cars needing a new one every 50.000km. My friends skyline had terrible fuel economy at 70.000, after replacing the o2 sensor he was getting almost twice as much out of the tank.

yes o2's not matter what car will require replacement even if no codes are logged, as they get older their ability to generate voltage dwindles and lower voltage will be generated and they also become slower, even if no codes are logged they may beyond their useable life.

Our sensors should be good for anything from 80,000-120,000 klms but can affected by outside influences, ie silastic fumes, coolant, oil, condensation, wiring mods etc etc.
