Having been trapped by the draconian P plate laws in New South Wales cars like this weren't even an option for me until recently. Having started with a 94 Barina when I was 17, followed by a 2000 Verada when I was 18, then a 2004 TL Magna VR-X Manual when I was 19, I got off my P's in August when I turned 20, but didn't really think about changing cars until I had the opportunity to spend time with an FPV Force6 in Silhouette that is currently for sale at my cousins dealership. Quiet, comfortable, powerful, smooth and gorgeous, I decided I had to get one of these cars! While I didn't want to spend the money for an FPV, I got the next best thing, a Dec 07 built, regoed Feb 08 BF XR6T with just over 50k on the clock in Silhouette!

Car was completely standard, having picked up the upgrade bodykit, dark 18" alloys and climate/premium sound as part of the runout pack Ford ran. The previous (first) owner optioned it with the fat FPV steering wheel (saved $500 there, woot!) and a towbar (saved another $350 there) from the factory, two less things that I'll have to do to it!

As I picked it up:

After a detail and having the bonnet protector painted:

On the cards is

  • Lowering - about 1.5in
  • 20" wheels - once I can bring myself to give up the stock ones, they looks so nice, unfortunate that they are only 18s!
  • A Car PC - had one in my two previous cars and can't do without one anymore
  • Darker Tint
  • Will likely replace the wing with a Force lip
