I used to do similar except, every 6 months I'd claybar + zaino the sh*t out of my car then once a fortnight go down to carlovers for a high pressure wash and spray... half the time I woudlnt even bother chamois'ing it dry as the zaino would tell all water to GTFOff the paint pretty much... would always look schmick with just that !

Dont ditch your sponges completely, cut them in half, and use them on your wheels.

That way, you know that all of your half sponges are for wheels only. Whatever you do, dont wash the car with a sponge used on wheels.

I use 2 chamois as well, use one for the outside, and one for door jambs, boot, bonnet, fuel door etc.

I'm a late night car-wash-o-phile too. I take a bucket with me, tyre shine the whole lot. And when I'm sponge cleaning the wheels and the door and boot jams I get the most evil looks from anyone who lines up behind me but I don't give a f*ck lol. And it doesn't cost me a cent cause all the boys at work know when they wash the work cars and they have left over tokens to go put em straight in my locker.

Totally agree ,the scary part is Seeing brand new cars copping this treatment, lets not get started on automatic car washes with automatic brushes, that's another form of car vandalism, each to their own !
