Just take note... those requirements are an AND.

That is, you have to drive one to work AND there is no other transport available to you.

I'm not sure how you go about proving that, especially if you've bought a car AFTER the rules kicked-in... but oh well, best of luck!

That's true Ron, but I'm sure that there would be cases where some under 25s would meet the criteria; also keep in mind that days of week and hours of use also need to be nominated on the application.

I reckon this is actually one of the pieces of legislation they got right, and hope it's not that simple to circumvent.

I dont think it matters if youre under 25 or not does it? The restriction applies to anyone and everyone on their p's??

I know someone who got pulled over by an unmarked car because he was driving an Audi A3 turbo (or something like that), and he was able to get a letter from his work saying it was a company car. I think in his case the car was registered to the company, but he seemed to think the letter was enough. He was told he would have to keep the letter in the car in case he got pulled over in future.

Haven't checked in recent years but at some stage in Vic we had similar exemptions and I thought they were getting tightened to basically no exceptions.

Pretty much.

I don't know about QLD.. but the exemptions seem just the same.

and

there is no other transport available to you

and

not issuing an exemption will cause severe hardship.

pfft .. try getting past that.

If you just go out and buy an xr6t and say "its for work," you'll be rejected.

1) do you have other cars available to you through family?

2) can you take the bus? lol

If you go out and purchase and xr6t UTE because you need a UTE for work .. the response you'll get is "you do not need a performance turbo ute, you could've opted for a non turbo model, it has nothing to do with your work requirements" .. REJECTED.

If anyone manages to get an exemption, I'd be very happy to hear how it was done :P

Other than that.. good luck.

A simple example would be if you were a plasterer on P's for instance and your boss owned an XRT ute with racks on and part of your job was to drive the ute to and from job sites; then you would qualifiy for exemption.

What about if you were full time Cruise Control for a turbo forum?

Would that have any thing to do with your work requierments?
