Some of the Jap turbo guys have done this, not the best method and makes you wonder why they didnt just sell... but there's an exhaust manifold adapter you can buy for Silvias/200sx, runs off the T3 outlet and down into the exhaust, then you'd need to block off oil and water lines, and plumb up the intake.

I supose if you've invested alot in your car, and dont have a huge wait till your off your P's it could be considered.

The falcon would be alot easier to do though... raid the wreckers for NA exhaust manifold, intake pipe ect and remove all the IC gear... geez it would be a nugget though lol

Forgot about the low compression, depending on how long you got left on ya P's debadging a T might be the way to go.

Alright thanks for the help guys, doesn't sound like it's a good idea. I got 2 and a bit years left until opens and it'll be risking it if I drove around with a turbo, even though I would like to! Might just swap whatever I buy for the N/A to the turbo when it comes to the time. Cheers guys

Might be easier to apply for an exemption. Fill in the exemption form and get your boss to provide a written statement that the vehicle is necessary for work.

I know a P-plater who got to drive a V8 Mercedes for "work purposes", claimed that this car was necessary for his finance job and got his boss to back that up.

I'd say you've got an even better chance with a turbo ute.

if you really want to turn a turbo into a NA, you'll be best off removing the whole engine and putting in a non turbo motor from the wreckers, you'll want the complete engine harness, ecu, motor, exhaust manifolds etc.. but if you can get an exemption that'd be much better

Debadging is a good idea until something goes wrong or the cops have a better look... and then you'll pay... So, I'll change my mind and say it is a stupid idea...

I am not sure about removing the Turbo as I am thinking the Engine management will have a hissy fit... all its parameters suddenly change and I am not sure if it will cope..

Thought off not worrying about a T until you have done your time ? We all went through it...

Also heard that it doesn't make the car legal to drive on P's. It's compliance says it's a turbo vehicle, whether you remove the turbo or leave it there the vehicle is not legal for you to drive.

That's true. Doesn't matter if you take the turbo off, it still won't be legal for you to drive as it is still registered and compliance plated as a turbo vehicle. You may as well just de-badge it as you will get in the same amount of shlt if they catch you and you will still have the performance of a turbo.

To hard to do. I would suggest debadging your car including the XR6 so no one will ever be the wiser. My car is completely debadged but has had a fair bit of work done under the bonnet. Its also nice and quite so no one really has a clue until they look closely through the front bar.

If it was easy to do mate there would be a heap of blokes out there that would be able to give you advice after have done it. But sorry to say doesnt look like there is.

Because you won't be able to hear it spool up or come off boost??

lol yeah right
