Try to get a country one as they tend to have less gutters and medium strips that can be more abusive.

Just think of is as well broken in with a warranty :buttrock:

Ex cop cars are good value for money. But like the old saying; you get what you pay for! Ex-highway petrol cars are the go if you must. Stay away from ex detective cars. they really thrash and trash their cars like nothing else!

They are good cars but they have sh*t resale value. I was offered 18000,19000,21500 and 22500 trade in. All dealers knew it was ex highway except for the last one I think as they never mentioned it. Mine was Mar08 build 88000ks. Paid 25 back in march 09.

I just brought an ex cop car...it may even be the one that you were speaking of only I didnt pay that much for it.

And so far it seems fine goes well and doesn't seem to have any problems except the squeaky brakes but I think every BA/BF has that problem.

The way I see it is that they are always maintained, anything that needs fixing would be done straight away and with good parts. Plus mine has 18 months new car warranty on it still so that's a bit of a safety net.

I dont think the cops wouldn't thrash them half as much as I am going to or most of the people on this forum would do. The only time they get into it is when they chase someone and most of the time the chase is over in less than a minute.

I personally think they are ok but I can see why people would want to steer clear of them too.

Owned mine for 1.5 years now, 07 BFII Turbo, been great, nothing out of the ordinary has busted on it - only had ford notice and replace split rear centre diff bush...couldn't notice the difference! Still stock performance wise aside from phoon intake and K&N panel filter.

I remember the times when Ex chasers were well sort after and actually dearer than the stockies because they were chipped up and had bigger brakes and beefed up suspension.

Way back then you use to have a plug in the roof so that was a dead giveaway that you were in a Ex chaser, and the drivers seat was sometimes more worn out because of the big utility belts they wore.

I think with all used cars there are some benefits ,price being one of them as you can save heaps on the new car drive out the lot depreciation that the new car buyer cops.

I personally would not have a problem with buying an Ex chaser if the right one came my way as stated before you at least know they had a good service history and low K'S and are usually still under warranty.

PS sorry about the quote box above my post I'm new to posting and still learning how to post properly and couldn't work out how to post without the last posters quote appearing so I would like someone to tell me how I can post without the above quote box appearing with my post please.

Just noticed the fast reply box further down the page do I post in that section?

Very valid point, and if they didn't you wouldn't want it as it'd probably be a slug. These things love being pushed
