or probably ever going to be charged with anything. That makes me worry.

The thing everybody seems to be overlooking....this turkey's still out there and driving on the same roads as us.... :fool:

Do you think he will use the cruise control in it ??

How long did it take Ford in the US to take the Pinto off the market. Or how many people died before they did.

Ford's Sinead McAlary says it appears both the cruise control and brakes failed.

"This is the first such incident that we have heard of," he said.

"We have spoken to our colleagues in the US to try and determine that, so it is highly unusual."

I had my old VS bombadore cruise control stuck on many years ago. No brakes would work and would just stay on just over 80 kph. A little scarey at first when coming down the highway downhill to a set of lights. First tried brakes, No go there. Naturally next was to put in neutral. Rev's flew up and nearly blew the engine and turned it off before I did.

In my instance was a plastic connector had got damaged and then jammed the cruise control on. I for one having something like this happen can understand the predicament he was in. However I find it hard to believe that so many things wouldn't work or turn off???

Very very strange. I for one looking forward to the outcome. Keep us posted if anyone finds out!

Officers have told Mr Weir they disconnected the car's battery during their testing.

Mr Weir said he was worried that meant the car's so-called black box that records faults in the computer system, including errors in cruise control, had been wiped clean before police started testing it.

What a crock of bullsh*t. :msm:

They should have charged to fool with a list of offences, how many laws were broken and lives endangered throughout the little exercise? If there were no faults with the vehicle then he has no recourse.

Friggin farce.

did the brakes work after the cc was fixed? I cant work out (in both cases) how brakes can just not work? They are a totally different componant of the car.

Really sus but you can't prove there was nothing wrong with his car at the time of the incident. Need proof beyond reasonable doubt, in this case, a confession. I don't think police can be bothered, seeing as no one was hurt.

I think the new cruise control systems like Merc's are using with the forward braking sensors and lane tracking, are going to save countless lives. Old mate having a little nod on his drive home is a big killer.

And it would eliminate situations like this. Well hopefully the forward sensors are built in to over ride all other systems.
