$1235 per month out of pre-tax salary, for 18 months, at which point I just give it back and get a new one. All costs included  (except tolls  )

I would like to know that as well.

I am on a novated lease and it is costing me $1150/mth, but that includes the lease on the car, fuel, insurance, servicing, tyres, greenslip, rego, the works.

Is that before or after tax?

start in the sh*thouse first and work your way to the penthouse! you are only 21,get yourself anchored with a bit of property and a plan then reap the benefits later when you are mature and responsible and know what you want. And believe me you haven't got a clue now!. I am not winding you up or putting brown stuff on you 'cos I can remember me being 21 all of 25years ago just like yesterday

I greatly appreciate the advice from the older and wiser

The more I think about investing in property and/or shares the more it becomes a good idea. Maybe I could just wait until I am setup and secure with a job and own property first, ....but ... grrr damn it I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!! :D :D

car? property, job, security? car? ... hmm....

hang on a minute!!

Why cant I have the best of both worlds??? Hey old and wise, maybe you can help me here. Has anyone tried to do the investment property thingy, but also put the cost of a car together!?!? That way I can pay off the property + car in the one package, and have a flash car to drive as well?

Just a theory... are there any complications??

that's after tax.

I find it hard to believe anyone can better that including all expenses paid. I did the calculations and that is by far the cheapest way I could see to do it. That includes 25000kms per yr ($3850/yr in fuel), insurance @ $2600/yr, $800/yr servicing, $1000/yr tyres, rego and green slip. Of course if I was in a higher tax bracket it would be even better...
