Ive read a lot of peoples comments about their new XR6T's and quite frankly I am very jelous! ;) So for this reason I am working two jobs now and saving up for this supreme vehicle.

My question is, how much did everyone pay (or are still paying) for their vehicles? How did you pay for you vehicles? Through loan? lease? upfront??

The reason I ask is that I have a few options at the moment.

1. Get a loan, get the car now! But Im 21.. will I need to pay more insurance for being under 25 or something? And the jobs im doing now aren't very secure so repayments may be a problem in the future.

2. Save up as much as I can for another 1 year and make a largish upfront deposit. A new model may come out by then, hence more options again next year.

3. Apply for a lease? I've hear stuff about this but no quite sure of the details.

4. Win $50 000+ in lotto, keno, poker and spend spend spend!

I tend to favour option 4 as it seems easiest :D (well in my dreams it does :P) But seriously I find option 2 my best option at the moment as my ea seems to be holding together...

Tips, info would be appreciated!

sell a kidney. You will have plenty left over for a mail order bride and a few slabs of beer.

Seriously,

I financed through CBFC at 6.8% on a 100% lease - repayments just under $800 per month.

I'm doing option 2. Would lease except that it doesn't quite suit my purposes.

If your employment is not stable, lease will probably be just as bad as you still need to meet the repayments. When you leave your current employer the deed of novation kicks in - ie the responsibility for the repayments is transferred, or novated, to you. You then have to organise with your new employer to have the lease picked up by them. So if you regularly change jobs, it could be a real pain.

Alternatively, drug dealers own pretty good cars. Providing you don't consume your own product ;)

Novated Lease.

Repayments are just under $300 a week, including my fuel, insurance, rego, greenslip, everything...

Option 2 is the go I reckon. XR6T series 2 will probably be better and have more power. You could probably pick up a second hand series 1 at a good saving then as everyone (except me) updates.

I'm getting mine as a facilities car, hehehe. I manage about 15km's a day from home to work.

Mine will be leased as a company car, I pay roughly $350 per fortnight for everything. could never afford it if it was retail cause there is a huge difference in price between retail and fleet.

Friday afternoon fatherly advice.

Stop dreaming and buy property instead. Get a new car when you are a bit older and can afford it and have built up a reasonable no claim bonus.

You wil lose money on cars.

My son won't listen, so I guess you won't either.

Unfortunately illeagal substances are out of the question B) and I think I'll keep my liver until I want to buy a house :D

Hmm its interesting to hear peoples replies. It seems that the majority so far are on a novated lease. Some are paying around $800/month and some are paying $300/week.

How many years does the lease last for? Are there any restrictions? (ie. keeping it under 40 000 kms?)

thanks for help fellas, any new ideas would also be appreciated :)

bcl, my father tells me the same thing too heh heh!

I'll keep that advise in mind... I'll save up as much as I can for 1 year and see what happens, possibly look into property later.. dunno...

Im seriously hoping I win lotto though !! ! ;D
